A. Spelling Let the pupils read the sentences below. Have them give and spell out the word being

1. The children participate during class discussion.


2. I study my lesson every night.
3. The speakers speak very well.
4. She dances gracefully.
5. He gathers some shells along the seashore.

B. Motivation Call a pupil to act out in front. Then ask another to tell what is being acted out.

C. Presentation  Present to the class a group of sentences. Let the pupils read the sentences in column A

Compare the verbs in column A and column B.

Ask: What did you notice on the verbs in column A? How about in column B?
D. Discussion Say: Looking back in the sentences in column A.

 What is the subject in no.1 sentence? 2 sentence? 3 sentence? 4 sentence?
 Is it singular or plural?
 Look at the verbs in column A. Do the verbs end with s?( Yes or No )
 Do the verbs done in present time? ( Yes or No )

Say: Let ‘ s read again the sentences in column B. Take note the underlined verbs or action
words in each sentence.

 What is the subject in no.1 sentence? 2 sentence? 3 sentence? 4 sentence?


 Is it singular or plural?
 Look at the verbs in column B. Do the verbs end with s?( Yes or No )
 Do the verbs done in present time? ( Yes or No )

Say: Verbs in present tense state an action that happens in present time. There are time signals
that you must consider like every day, every morning, every Sunday etc.

*The S form of the Verb is used with a singular subject and with pronouns He, She and It.

So, verbs in Column A sentences are -S form of the verb or verb with an s..

*The Base form of the verb or verb without s is used when the subject is plural and with pronouns
I, You, We and They.

So, verbs in column B sentences are based form of the verb or verb without s.

Give to the class more examples and have them answer using their tag boards.
