Local SEO Checklist

The goal of this checklist is to make sure that you are doing all of the right things when
establishing a local SEO strategy.

Google My Business
The cornerstone of any local SEO strategy is making sure that you have a complete Google My
Business profile. When somebody searches for “[product or service you provide] near me,” you
want your business to be in that big box Google shows searchers. When creating your Google My
Business profile, make sure you have all of these things ready, and check them off when you’ve put
them into your profile:

❏ Address
❏ City
❏ State
❏ Zip Code / Postal Code
❏ Country
❏ Local Phone Number
❏ Toll-Free Phone Number
❏ Website
❏ Fax Number (LOL)
❏ Email Address
❏ (If Multiple Locations) Location-Specific URLs
❏ Business Hours (Weekdays + Weekends)
❏ Business Categories
❏ Services provided
❏ Certifications, specialities, awards, unique value propositions
❏ URL of Logo
❏ Number of business locations
❏ Social media profiles (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest)
❏ Google Drive / Dropbox URL with high quality images, videos, reviews &
testimonials of business (have this on hand to add photos to your GMB profile)
Other Local SEO Elements
❏ Created a Google Search Console account?
❏ Created a Bing Webmaster Tools account?
❏ Created a Google Analytics account?
❏ Created a YouTube for business channel if necessary?
❏ Website contact page lists NAP and all locations as necessary?
❏ Website contact page lists business hours?
❏ Website contact page has embeddable map?
❏ Added business schema?
