2024 (Monday)

I. OBJECTIVES

Content Standards Infer that Characteristics and Uses of Simple machines

Performance Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of a simple

machine that has six types of simple machines.

II. Content Topic: Characteristics of and uses of Simple Machines

III. Learning Resources

A. References At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

1.Teachers guide 1. Describe the types of Simple Machines

2. Manipulate the different simple machines and;
3. Show appreciation on the importance of simple
machines to daily life.

2. Learner’s materials page Text book page 2 to page 16

3. Textbook Module Science Quarter 3 - Module 1A - 3

4. Additional materials forms LR portal illustration board

IV. Other Learning Resources

A. Preliminary activities A. ICare Simple machine

1. A flat surface raised at an angle surface, like a
slope.
2. An object with two inclined planes positioned back
to back that tapers to a thin edge.
3. Made up of a Circular frame that revolves.
4. A wheel carries a flexible rope, chain, cord, or cable
on its rim.
5. A long inclined plane wrapped around with a spiral
rib or a cylindrical thing with a continuous winding.
6. A long beam or bar that rests or turns or lifts on
support, it has three parts: fulcrum, load and effort.

D. Checking of assignments.

Development 1. Motivation(Engage)

I will present a video presentation about simple

machines then after that I will be giving some guide
questions about what they viewed in the video.

What have you noticed on the video?

What tools were used to make their work easier ?
What do you all know about this type of tool?

Presentation (Elicit)

Energy
Work → Simple Machine
Force

The teacher will give the whole presentation within the

subject of the lesson proper.

Lever first-class levers are ones that have the fulcrum

placed between the load and effort. Second-class levers
are ones that have load in between the fulcrum and effort.
Third-class levers are ones that have effort in between the
fulcrum and load.
Inclined Plane an inclined plane, also known as a ramp,
is a flat supporting surface tilted at an angle from the
vertical direction, with one end higher than the other, used
as an aid for raising or lowering a load.

Wedge a piece of wood, metal, or other material with a

pointed edge at one end and a wide edge at the other,
used to keep two things apart or, when forced between
two things, to break them apart.

Wheel and axle consists of a round disk, known as a

wheel, with a rod through the center of it, known as the
axle. This system uses angular momentum and torque to
do work on objects, typically against the force of gravity.
The wheel and axle simple machine is closely related to
gears.

Pulley a wheel that carries a flexible rope, cord, cable,

chain, or belt on its rim. Pulleys are used singly or in
combination to transmit energy and motion. Pulleys with
grooved rims are called sheaves.

Screw a small metal rod with a notch in the top that's

used as a fastener. You can attach one piece of wood to
another by rotating a screw through the two surfaces. A
screw is similar to a nail, but instead of hammering it in,
you turn it repeatedly with a screwdriver.

Activities (Explore) each group will analyze the tool that they will
use on the group activity. Divide the students into small
groups and tell students they will work as a group.

Group 1 Lever

Group 2 inclined plane

Group 3 Screw

Group 4 Pulley

Group 5 Wheel and axle

Students will manipulate the tool assign to them as a

group.
Discussion Explain

I will give a picture then they will give the meaning with in
the picture given.

Then each group has their representative to present and

explain in the front.
Simple Machines any of several devices with few or no
moving parts that are used to modify motion and the
magnitude of a force in order to perform work. They are
the simplest mechanisms known that can use leverage (or
mechanical advantage) to increase force.

placed between the load and effort. Second-class levers
are ones that have load in between the fulcrum and effort.
Third-class levers are ones that have effort in between the
fulcrum and load.

Generalization

What are the different types of simple machines?

Feedback within the lesson

Application (Elaborate)

The Simple machines made our life easier and fast just line what we
have as of today.

I’m giving them a video presentation of all the types of simple

machines.
As a student, why do you think simple machines are important?

Like to tow truck, bike, and spatula use in everyday life and work

Evaluation Direction: Describe the characteristics and analyze carefully the

following questions. Write the letter of your answer on a sheet of
paper.

1. A flat surface raised at an angle surface, like a slope.

2.An object with two inclined planes positioned back to

back that tapers to a thin edge.

3.Made up of a Circular frame that revolves.

4. A wheel carries a flexible rope, chain, cord, or cable on

its rim.
5. A long inclined plane wrapped around with a spiral rib
or a cylindrical thing with a continuous winding.

6. A long beam or bar that rests or turns or lifts on support,

it has three parts: fulcrum, load and effort.

Extended Assignment: Give some Simple machines in your surroundings give

atleast 10 simple machines.
RUBRICS : The Teacher will grade the group work of the students.
