For the facilitator:
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and
independent learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also
aims to help learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

manage their own learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist

2 Practical Budget
Almost everything in this world relies much on money. From buying
essentials, riding a jeepney, paying bills and even loading your phone. Your parents
work hard to have money to provide things for you and the whole family. Knowing
the importance of money, you as a good child of your parents must take part in
planning the budgeting of money to be able to help them.
It is very important that you should learn first what is budget or budgeting.
Budget is a planned spending of income and money of the family. You need to be
feasible and practical with the budget for you to carry out the most important things
in your household. You must know the priorities, and your family’s needs and wants.
In this module, you will learn more about budgeting and managing your resources
efficiently.
What’s In
In your previous lesson, you were taught about allocating budget for basic and
social need. Now we will put your budgeting skills into feasible and practical
budgeting skills. In order to thrive in the society, you must have such skills to help
save and afford overall expenses. Are you ready to learn about budgeting and
managing family resources? Ask your parents how much their monthly salary or
income as combined. List it down on your notebook.

Design it with colorful art so that you get inspired to do more saving.

What is It
In order to effectively budget, you must also know how to manage your family
resources efficiently. Read the information below:
Few Tips in Managing Resources Efficiently:
1. Use energy and time properly.
2. Know how to budget money to make spending worthwhile.
3. Know how to use clean, and take care of appliances, tools, furniture to
keep them functioning well.
4. Adopt a cheerful and positive attitude towards work to make easy,
interesting and enjoyable.
5. Assign responsibilities that can make use of one’s talent and skills in
doing chores.
6. Make good use of community facilities such as parks, roads, hospitals, schools
churches and libraries to meet some family needs and wants.
Here are the tips to prepare a feasible and practical budget. <Practical= is the
word here. The actual task of preparing a budget is easy. The hard part will be setting
priorities. Read the following simple steps to budget:
1. Track your family income and expenses.
Gather all your bills, paycheck and receipts.
2. Set realistic goals.
To save money, you have to set goals. Your financial goals can include quick
reduction on other expenses that are keeping you from saving more money.
3. Separate needs and wants.
Ask yourself: Do I need this or do I want this? Set clear priorities. If you can
live without it, then set it aside.
4. Put your plan into action.
List all you spend and always count your savings.
