d Transportation, mainly cars in cities are the largest source of air pollution.
Air pollution is leading to increased illness and loss of wildlife. People are
having to protect themselves by wearing masks. It’s not just an issue in America,
but globally.
e That something needs to be done and we must take responsibility for reducing
the amount of air pollution in cities.
f Anecdotal evidence about people suffering from health conditions related to air
pollution, although some researchers are mentioned. Statistics about the number of people
in America living in areas where the amount of air pollution is unacceptable, but no source
is cited or referenced. Also, statistics about the amount of nitrogen and carbon monoxide
in the air that have come from transportation, but no source cited or referenced.
g It is fairly convincing as it is logical and the evidence supports the argument made.
It would be more convincing if the sources of evidence were cited and referenced and
there was evidence to support some of the claims made; for example, ‘Cars are the most
polluting of all vehicles’.
h It is not very reliable as the author is unknown – their name does not appear in a cross-
reference (the author hasn’t written anything else). Some of the information
is credible but parts are not; for example, citing cars as the most polluting of all vehicles.
The source is also outdated and things will have changed since the article was written.
