Punctuality:
Punctuality is valued, but meetings may start late due to social customs.
So about the Working Hours: Business hours are typically Sunday to Thursday, with shorter
hours during Ramadan.
For the Rest Days: Friday is the main rest day due to Jumu'ah (Friday prayer). Some
businesses also close on Saturdays.
In regards to Meal Times: Lunch is the main meal of the day and can be lengthy. Dinner is
lighter and later in the evening.
Drinks or Meal Out: Alcohol is prohibited in Saudi Arabia. Meals are typically halal.
To Socializing with Business Associates: Building trust through socializing is important. Tea
or coffee meetings are common before discussing business.
Accepting Invitations: It's customary to accept invitations to someone's home. Declining may
be seen as impolite.
Gifts: Gifts are appreciated but avoid items related to alcohol, pork, or anything culturally
sensitive.
Mealtime Etiquette: Use the right hand for eating. Refusing food may be seen as impolite.
Accept with appreciation.
Business Meeting Etiquette: Begin with small talk. Maintain a respectful tone. Be patient
during negotiations.
Dress Codes:
Men: Conservative attire with long sleeves and trousers.
Women: Modest clothing covering arms and legs. Abaya (traditional dress) is common.
Use of First and Last Names:
Address people with their titles and last names unless invited to use their first name.
