Scheme of Work Stage 6

Scheme of Work Stage 6

The following scheme of work provides you with a clear pathway to follow through the school year,
using Oxford International Primary Maths resources.

The scheme of work gives clear guidance in which order to move through each lesson in the Student
Book (with corresponding Practice Book activities), and the outcome for that lesson (the key English
National Curriculum (ENC) objective it covers). Across sessions and terms, it builds on previous learning
and revisits topics and strands of mathematics, which allows students to consolidate and embed
their learning. In addition to the ENC objectives, the course includes some lessons with learning
outcomes outside the scope of the ENC. These lessons are shown in italics in the scheme of work.
The author of the course has included this content because it was felt that it was useful and relevant
for international schools.

The scheme of work is based on a school-year organisation of three terms, each 12 weeks’ long.
Lessons have been split across weeks with the assumption that you will have five maths sessions
across each week.

A key concept or skill covered in a Student Book lesson is the focus of most sessions. However, some
sessions in this scheme of work do not have a corresponding Student Book lesson. These sessions are
shaded in the scheme of work. They can be used for consolidation, review or assessment, depending
on your class’s specific needs. In some instances, a specific focus for these sessions has been suggested.
Downloadable, end-of-unit and end-of-year summative assessment materials are available on the
Oxford Owl website (www.oxfordowl.co.uk).
