Example 1:

The graph illustrates information about the consumption of renewable energy in the USA
over a period of 59 years, from 1949 to 2008. The results are also revealing the main energy
sources. The units are measured in quadrillions of Btu.
Overall, it can be observed that the consumption of renewable energy increased over the
period under consideration. Initially, only hydroelectric and wood sources were utilized, but
by the end of the period, biofuels and wind sources had begun to contribute significantly to
the production of energy.
In terms of total consumption, it began slightly above 3 quadrillion Btu in 1949, growing
steadily and reaching a peak of about 7 quadrillion Btu in 1997. Hydroelectric and wood
sources started at 1.8 quadrillion Btu and gradually increased their production capacity to 2
quadrillion Btu by the end of the period.
Another thing to point out is that biofuels and wind sources emerged in 1981, experiencing
modest growth until the year 2000. Subsequently, biofuels experienced a rapid ascent,
reaching approximately 1 quadrillion Btu in 2008.
