Example 3:

The diagram illustrates information about the skeletal systems of two ancestors of modern
human beings, Australopithecus afarensis and Homo erectus. The names of the most
relevant bones and features of the body are shown for each ancestor. Overall, it can be
observed that the Australopithecus afarensis' height is similar to Homo erectus' height, but
there are some differences in their general shapes.
In detail, the Australopithecus afarensis' head is larger than the Homo erectus' head, and
the Australopithecus has high and narrow shoulders, whereas the Homo erectus has low
and wide shoulders. Furthermore, the Australopithecus has a wide chest, short waist, and
long forearm, while the Homo erectus has a narrow chest, tall waist, and short forearm.
Comparing the lower parts of the two ancestors, it can be seen that the Australopithecus
has a small gluteus, long femoral neck, small knee, short Achilles tendon, small heelbone,
and long toes. Conversely, the Homo erectus has large gluteus, short femoral neck, large
knee, long Archilles tendon, enlarged heelbone, and short toes.
