Typical failure causes:

• Improper installation (incorrect torque or wrong tightening sequence)
• Leakage of the related gaskets
• Defective add-on parts (especially in connection with integrated
crankcase ventilation valve system (PCV-valve system))
• Damages of fastening points due to material wear

Symptoms:
• Loss of oil
• Rough engine running
• Higher fuel consumption
• Oil sludge contamination
• Considerable smell of oil while engine is running
