Abstract

This paper will explore the harmful effects that processed foods have on teenagers. Many only

believe that the affects pertain to only the body, yet this is a common misconception. High intakes of

certain chemicals found in foods can result in mental health issues. This paper also discusses what

benefits companies have by selling these products. These companies use different forms of

advertisement to target and attract greater and younger group of people. The evolution of food is also

discussed of course, as foods have become more chemical filled since the early 1960’s. The main goal of

the paper, is to bring to light what many food companies avoid to expose. That highly processed foods

are everywhere and are dangerous to the human body.

Processed Foods and it’s affects

The foods discussed in this paper, that have been chemically manipulated have been proven to

have unhealthy repercussions, for both body and mental health.

What is Processed Foods?

Processed foods refer to any food that has been altered from its natural state. This also includes

added preservatives such as nutrients, flavors, salts, sugars, and fats. A high intake of any of these

preservatives cam lead to health issues, that are discussed in this paper.
