1.Program Description, Goals and Learning Outcomes

Program Description

The role of Management in today’s business organizations transcend a single functional specialty
and requires a broad array of specialized knowledge. The Master of Business Administration
degree provides the student with business knowledge and abilities for cross-functional decision-
making. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is designed for mid-career professionals
whose careers and management responsibilities transcend a single functional specialty and require
a broad array of specialized knowledge and skills. The emphasis of this interdisciplinary,
integrated, and applied degree program is on the significant organizational and management
processes that take place in the context of large public or private institutions doing business on a
global scale.

The goal is to prepare students for upper management and executive-level positions by developing
key managerial competencies—including critical thinking, systems thinking, team building,
decision making, and ethical leadership—that can be applied in any type of business enterprise.

The program will prepare graduates to:

 Apply business knowledge and skills effectively in a variety of settings


 Demonstrate the ability to make strategic, integrative decisions
 Analyze the evolving nature of corporations.
 Practice leadership with change management.
 Measure an organization’s intellectual assets.
 Identify how product development merges with entrepreneurship.
 Foster new approaches to measure the economic performance of organizations.
 Demonstrate an understanding of professional responsibility, ethical obligations, and social
awareness
 Demonstrate competency in the global aspects of business

2. Program Prerequisites
Students seeking admission to ASUE MBA program should have appropriate knowledge of English
language in order to take English language courses. Applicants to the program should have already
earned a bachelors diploma or equivalent in related field.

3. Academic Standards

MBA degree requires 120 ECTS credits, 30 for each semester. The duration of the program is 2
academic years or 4 semesters. Internship is organized during the 4th semester. Academic year has
two semesters Fall semester (September-December) and Spring Semester (February – May). Exam
sessions are organized in January for Fall Semester and in June for Spring Semester. The
programs usually start in Fall Semester, but for special cases it can start also from Spring
Semester. Each semester consists of 17 weeks with auditorium classes (lectures, seminars and labs).
Structure, content and other details of curriculum and grading norms for each subject are defined
in course syllabuses. In ASUE grade is based on the weights of components distributed on total
percentage of points.

4. MBA Program Structure

The ASUE MBA is composed of 120 ECTS credits. The curriculum is designed for deeper
understanding of management problems and the business firm’s position in the economic structure
of society. Courses give from 3 to 5 ECTS credits. The curriculum has four main components: core
fundamentals, MBA core, elective courses, and experiential learning.

I. Core Fundamentals: Core Fundamentals consists of 3 required courses (total 11 ECTS


credits), which gives students understanding of business English, research methods and
communication skills.

The following courses are required:

Business English (3 ECTS credits)


Research Methodology (4 ECTS credits)
Management Culture and Business Communication (4 ECTS credits)

II. The MBA Core: The MBA core (total 49 credits) consists of 11 required courses in the major
functional areas of management theory and practice and high level study of the economics,
political and social contexts of business environment. The MBA core provides students
understanding the techniques for solving managerial problems.

The following courses are required:

1. Theory of Management (5 ECTS credits)


2. Advanced Microeconomics (4 ECTS credits)
3. Advanced Macroeconomics (4 ECTS credits)
4. Conflict Management (5 ECTS credits)
5. Managerial Accounting and Control Methods (5 ECTS credits)
6. Taxation and Business Decision (5 ECTS credits)
7. Marketing in Global Economy (4 ECTS credits)
8. The Problems of Social-Economic Security (4 ECTS credits)
9. Advanced Econometrics (4 ECTS credits)
10. Public Administration (5 ECTS credits)
11. Management Information Systems (4 ECTS credits)

III. Elective courses: ASUE designed flexible curriculum for MBA to allow students to get
knowledge in special areas of interest. During the 3rd semester program offers 5 elective
courses with total 25 ECTS credits. The list of electives is subject to dynamic changes. ASUE
MBA provides students with the opportunity to specialize in functional areas of Accounting,
Finance, Information Systems, Marketing.

IV. Experiential Learning

Two internships are organized during the program. Internship 1 (5 ECTS credits) is
organized within the university. The aim is to provide students to work in educational
environment and gain teaching skills. Internship 2 (15 ECTS credits) is research with
practical orientation and is organized in business environment. During 3 semesters students
should work on the Masters Thesis (15 ECTS credits), which must be presented in 4 th
semester. A scientific adviser is appointed for each student.

5. Accommodation

Accommodation: ASUE can provide accommodation for additional 360.000 AMD for one year.
