LOSS OF BIODIVERSITY
The loss of biodiversity is considered one of the ten environmental problems, is it? since it
is the decrease or disappearance of biological diversity. It is also considered a serious
phenomenon that results from the extinction of species and the degradation of natural
habitats. Biodiversity is very important for the health and balance of ecosystems. Each
species performs a unique role in its ecosystem and contributes to its functioning, does it?.
When species are lost, ecosystems can become less resilient to disturbance and more
vulnerable to environmental changes.
The causes of the loss of biodiversity are human factors are they? The loss of habitat
mainly in soil changes due to activities such as deforestation of forests, which negatively
impact ecosystems and the species that compose them, climate change since it impacts
biodiversity at various levels: the distribution of species, the structure of communities and
ecosystem function. Invasive species due to the introduction of non-native species into new
environments can compete with local species, prey on them, or spread diseases, can they?.
Pollution of air, water and soil by different products negatively affects biodiversity and
infrastructure and development because the construction of roads or buildings often
involves the degradation or destruction of natural habitats.
The effects of biodiversity loss cause a reduction in the stability of ecosystems because
the loss of species can lead to greater vulnerability to unpredictable events or
environmental changes. Lower productivity of ecosystems as it causes a decrease in the
production of food and other natural resources. It does increase diseases due to reduced
biodiversity and can increase the density of certain animal species that act as disease
reservoirs. It do impact on adaptation to climate change as biodiversity may play a role
in adaptation to climate change as certain species may be more resistant to changing
climate conditions and ultimately lead to the extinction of species due to the alteration and
destruction of habitats causing thousands of species to be in danger of extinction, for
example there are more than 7.7 million species on the planet and more than 20% are in
danger of extinction, as noted by National Geographic. It is estimated that in the next 25
years 28,000 species will become extinct due to different causes.
The loss of biodiversity is related to humanity, our habits, pollution and damage to the
different ecosystems that are the habitat of many species will be a big problem in the
coming years. I myself can reduce, recycle and reuse materials to help solve environmental
problems. We ourselves can make changes in our daily lives such as reducing our
consumption of large-scale pollution, generating adequate use of ecosystems and taking
care of the different species that live there to understand that in nature there are no rewards
or punishments; there are consequences for our actions.
In conclusion, the loss of biodiversity is an environmental pressure and requires more
attention as we cannot continue destroying the diversity of life. Some solutions protect and
promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, strengthen recycling practices to
reduce pollution, care for the different species of ecosystems, generate environmental
education in people to obtain responsibility with nature, protect and conserve themselves.
Artworks

I choose this artwork because although there are different types of biodiversity, and in each
of them we find more groups that make it up, its loss is a reality that is attacking the world
and part of the responsibility lies with us human beings, does it?. Such a statement can be
made by remembering the transformation processes in which man has been the protagonist,
such as the industrial revolution, in order to reflect on the role that human beings have had
in this negative process that nature has had to go through. The central focus of the artwork
is the death and extinction of animals or plants due to the loss of biodiversity. The picture is
painted in vibrant shades of blue symbolizing life and protecting, doest it?, the color brown
or black the species of death. I do love the colors; they are very expresing and full of life.
The first time I saw the artwork, it did impact me.
