0-5 is prime brain development time.

Once your children learn to read, the world of self-

motivated education opens to them.

Don't rely on the toxic school system.

How to TEACH your child UNDER 5 TO READ in less

than 30 mins a day:
Play Games that Facilitate Phonetic Adoption:

I spy can be adapted to encourage the understanding

of phonetic sounds.

I Spy something beginning with the sound "T".

Adapting other games to suit will go a long way to

encouraging association of letters to sounds.

Get a Book Series of Increasing Complexity:

Invest in a set of books that have increasing

complexity and teach key words.

We have some old 'Puddle Lane' books we started

with.

We also purchased a 36 box set of key word books

from Ladybird.
Ask What Letter Things Start With:

When your kids are looking at things, ask them what

letter it starts with.

Hiding in the curtains? "What letter do they start with?"

Balancing on a wall? "W-wall, what could that start

with?"

Don't Filter Out Big Words:

Contextual exposure to larger words will accelerate

language development.

You need to feed into kids natural curiosity and

explain large words when needed.

My kids have surprised us with words like

perpendicular, permeate and amalgamate.
Talk to Them Like Adults:

I CRINGE when I hear people talk to their children like

they're idiots.

Don't. Do. This.

It's belittling, isolating, and impairs language

development.

Talk to them like the capable humans you believe they

are.
Read BIG Books:

Read long books, with big words, and running

narratives.

These expose children to larger words

The Hobbit+LOTR are good ones

The first Wizard of Oz (skip the rest, they're political
trash)
The Secret Garden.
Storybook Bible.

There are plenty of options.

Minimal Screen Time:

Screen time is bad.

It crushes creativity and destroys focus, among other

negative impacts.

Avoid it for kids 2-5.

NO SCREEN TIME for kids under 2. None.

Front Facing, Rotating Library:

We have A LOT of books.

We also have a kids bookshelf that shows all the

covers of books to the kids.

My wife rotates these out every few days, so there's

always new stuff coming in.

This makes books their go-to quiet-time entertainment.

Read Daily & Do Voices:

Reading anything at all to your child, daily, is a

necessity.

What isn't so obvious is doing fun, consistent

character voices.

This especially matters with reading large books. It

keeps them interesting and easier to follow.
