Case Analysis: St. La Salle Preschool Project

In what ways did the project address this

characteristic??
Characteristics of Liberating Actions
(Discuss specific indicators or aspects of the project
that support each characteristic and explain why these
indicators can be considered as evidence of such
characteristic.)

Context-sensitive The St. La Salle Preschool Project aims to help those

children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
that have little to no financial and educational
opportunities. The goal of the project is to heed to the
educational needs of the partner communities to
provide them with meaningful experiences that will
support and nurture their learning and holistic
development.

Life-affirming The St. La Salle Preschool Project aims to support the

children from marginalized families to learn and grow
through education. This project allows children to gain
knowledge and understanding of the world around them
to support their holistic development.

The project can also be characterized to be

life-affirming for the reason that the preschool project is
created with the purpose of a system that is progressive
and inclusive, by focusing on the needs of the
children, parents, and caregivers the project creates a
environment that results in the flourishing of human life
not only inside the classroom but also outside.
Mutually empowering The St. La Salle Preschool Project addressed the
mutually empowering characteristic by involving DLSU
stakeholders, parents/caregivers, and the community in
collaborative efforts that fostered shared responsibility
and mutual support. Through engagement with
students, faculty members, and non-teaching partners,
the project facilitated knowledge sharing and resource
exchange, leading to mutual growth and development.
By creating opportunities for parents and caregivers to
understand child development and building cooperation
with them, the project empowered families to actively
participate in their children's education. Additionally,
working with the community to ensure the safety and
well-being of children and engaging in service-learning
projects empowered community members to contribute
to the growth and development of both the children and
the community, demonstrating a commitment to mutual
empowerment and shared success.

Capacitating The St. La Salle Preschool Project gives community

members the ability to become more independent by
teaching them skills such as leadership skills and
financial literacy. Furthermore, by imparting these
capabilities, this project aims to empower individuals
within the community to navigate challenges, make
informed decisions, and contribute positively to their
own well-being and that of the community at large.
Leadership skills enable individuals to take initiative,
guide others, and foster collaboration, while financial
literacy equips them with the knowledge and tools to
manage resources effectively. Together, these skills
form a foundation for personal and community growth,
promoting a sense of independence and resilience
among community members.
