1 General

1.1 Definitions
General Limits represent the General Tolerances acceptable for a given Product during its
Manufacturing Phase when no specific tolerances are given on the drawing.

1.2 Objectives
• To be used as the unique reference by designers creating Airbus Drawings.
• Validate Selected Applicable Documents.
• References for Manufacturing and Quality Organizations.

1.3 References

2 Requirements

2.1 General
All Airbus Drawings, whatever their origin (Members/Associated Partners/Subcontractors)
shall refer to ABD0001 for General Limit's requirements.

Metric System shall be used, Ref.:

− ABD0046 - Units of Measurement
The General Tolerances/Limits stipulated shall apply to the Item concerned in its final
manufactured conditions, that is including (e.g.) Surface Treatment, Protection.

The General Tolerances/Limits are determined for temperature of + 20°C (see ISO 1).

All inspections performed at other temperatures shall take into account the expansion factor.

2.2 General Limits

General Limits/Tolerance Values shall never be indicated directly on the Drawings.

Instead, In the appropriate box of the Title Block of the Drawings or full 3D definition (as
described in ABD0004 - Drawing System, Part 1 - Mechanical Part for the programmes prior to
A350 and in A1079 for A350), the cross-reference to ABD0001 shall be completed with a suffix
to indicate the applicable Standard.

Note: For drawings issued before 1996 the Title Block may directly contain the Standard
Reference applicable by the Members/Associated Partners or Subcontractors as
validated in ABD0001.

2.3 Specific Tolerances (Out of Scope of ABD0001)

Specific Tolerances outside those defined in ABD0001 shall be:
− either indicated on the affected drawing at the appropriate level
− or refer to another Airbus Specific Approved document
− or ISO standard.

Consequently, the Products concerned shall be classified in two major categories:

− Metallic
− Composite (CFRP)
