VAGINA OWNER'S MANUAL

HOW TO
CARE FOR
DOWN
THERE
REBUILD | RESTORE l REVITALIZE
Meet Your Vagina

Do you REALLY know about your vagina? Did anyone ever sit
you down and tell you exactly what is going on down there?
Or how to properly care for yours?

Unfortunately, a lot of us don’t get comprehensive sex

education as young women and there are often strong taboos
when it comes to open, honest conversations about this body
part that half of the world has!

Over the years you may have noticed some vaginal changes.
Changes to color, texture, odor, moisture and sensation are
common with changing hormones. However, there is much
you can do to revitalize your feminine parts (and your sex life!)

In this guide, I'll say the embarrassing things, so you don't have
to and cover all the vaginal basics that everyone needs to
know. Be sure to share this with your fellow vagina owners -
they will thank you later!
What does a healthy vagina look like?

Health looks different on everyone! The important thing to

know is what your normal looks like so you can spot when
something feels or looks “off.”

A good first step is to get to know your anatomy a little

better by using a handheld mirror. Take a look at your vulva
and labia (the inner and outer lips around the vaginal
opening).

They can range in color from pink to brown to black—all

these colors are completely healthy and normal! Look for
anything on the skin that stands out, like lumps, bumps,
rashes, and sores. These may be symptoms you want to ask
your doctor about.

The better you know your own anatomy, the more quickly
you’ll know when something isn’t right and the faster you’ll
be able to treat concerns before they become bigger
problems.

Vaginal/Vulvar Anatomy
Did you know only 1 in 4 women know
where their vagina is?

Technically speaking, the "vagina" is the canal, and everything

else is considered the "vulva", however, it is very common to
refer to the vulva as the vagina!

What should a vagina smell like
For decades, there have been an abundance of products
marketed to women claiming to clean vaginas and stop
their natural odor. These products not only contribute to
the myth that vaginas need cleaning, they are also
associated with serious health risks.

Vaginas have a bit of an odor which can intensify with

physical activity and that’s healthy and normal! Vaginas
clean themselves. Keeping yours clean and healthy does
not involve anything complicated.

Your vagina is composed of different parts—all of which have

different functions and different cleaning needs. We’ll start
off by distinguishing them.

Outer parts of the Vagina: The outside of your vagina can be

referred to as your vulva. The vulva includes: the labia, clitoris,
opening of the urethra, opening of the vagina, mons pubis,
and some people also include the perineum and anus.

Inner parts of the Vagina The inside of your vagina holds the
vaginal canal, a tube that connects the vulva to the uterus.

How to keep her clean inside and out
Outer parts of the Vagina: You can
wash your vulva (the outside of your
vagina) with plain, odorless soap and
warm water while you’re in the
shower or bath. Avoid scented soaps
and make sure to rinse off all excess
soap. When you’re finished, pat your
vulva dry with a soft towel.

Inner parts of the Vagina: The best

way to take care of your vaginal canal
is to let it take care of itself. Vaginas
clean themselves naturally by making
mucus, which washes away blood,
semen, and other things that
shouldn’t be in there.

Other tips for vaginal self care

Stay away from products such as douches, scented tampons,

scented pads, powders, and sprays. These often mess with your
vagina’s pH and and disrupt the vaginal bacteria necessary for
keeping your vagina healthy.

Always wipe from front to back. Wiping the other way can
transfer unwanted bacteria (poop) to the opening of the
urethra (pee hole), leaving your body vulnerable to urinary tract
infections.

Choice in panties also plays a role. 100% cotton or cotton crotch

panties are ideal to keep the vulva healthy—allowing air in
while absorbing perspiration/moisture. Panties with synthetic
fibers have been proven to increase temperature and retain
heat, promoting the growth of fungus and unwanted bacteria.

Consider a PH balanced vaginal moisturizer with low dose

bioidentical hormones to maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome
and protect from atrophy.

VAGINAL PAIN IS NOT YOUR FAULT
Have you been spending months or
years in pain, discomfort, and avoiding
sex based on the assumption that
there wasn’t anything you could do?

More women experience

Vaginal Atrophy than you may
think.
Reports show that 15% of the
female population experiences
symptoms of vaginal atrophy
before menopause, the vast
majority of postmenopausal
women have symptoms.

Urinary tract infections,

incontinence and pain are just a
few of the symptoms women face.

Are you avoiding intimacy?

No Woman Should Have to Suffer from Vaginal

Dryness, Atrophy or Urinary tract symptoms

Many women with Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause

(aka vaginal atrophy) suffer in silence, avoiding intercourse.

They experience symptoms such as itching, burning,

incontinence, and urinary tract infections which can really
interfere with quality of life and can pose a risk of systemic
infection.

This happens to nearly all women to some degree, yet

somehow most women are taken by surprise when it
happens to them.

What is Vaginal Atrophy?

Vaginal atrophy, simply put, is the

thinning of the walls inside the
vagina. It occurs with aging in up to
75% of all women, becoming more
common as we age and enter
menopause.

However, Vaginal Atrophy can also

start early, when a woman is in her
30’s, because it is caused by the
progressive decline of sex hormones.
Because it is a slow and progressive
condition, many women may not pay
close attention to what is occurring
until they are silently suffering with
painful symptoms.

Symptoms of
Vaginal Atrophy include:

• External and internal vaginal pain and irritation

• Achiness in the vagina and vulva
• Vaginal dryness, itching, and/or burning
• Lack of normal healthy discharge
• Urinary leakage
• Painful intercourse (also called dyspareunia)
• No Interest in Sexual Intimacy

THE SILENT PROBLEM
Despite the high number of women experiencing
problems related to vaginal dryness, only a quarter of
women with these problems actually seek treatment. It
is still a "SILENT PROBLEM" that many women feel
embarrassed to talk about to partners, friends and even
their doctors. Some women even avoid seeing their
doctors for fear of pain associated with a physical exam.
In fact, less than 25% of women with Vaginal Atrophy
will talk to their doctors about this problem.

Women spend a third of their lives in a post

menopausal state and they need to make sure they
maintain the QUALITY OF LIFE that they had before
menopause. Vaginal dryness does not need to be
treated as an inevitable part of growing older –
something can be done about it.

What Causes Genitourinary Syndrome?

The main cause of GSM or atrophic vaginitis is a decline
in estrogen. Without estrogen, vaginal tissue thins and
dries out. It becomes less elastic, more fragile, and more
easily injured. The term Genitourinary Syndrome is used
to encompass all off the symptoms related to the vulva,
vagina, clitoris, and urinary tract.

Atrophic vaginitis increases a woman’s risk of

contracting vaginal infections. Atrophy causes changes
in the acidic environment of the vagina, making it easier
for bacteria, yeast, and other organisms to thrive. It also
increases the risk of urinary system atrophy
(genitourinary atrophy).

Symptoms associated with atrophy-related urinary tract

problems include more frequent or more urgent
urination or a burning sensation during urination. While
the decrease in estrogen levels during menopause
causes vaginal dryness, read on to learn the 4 other
reasons that can occur at any stage of life.

REASONS FOR VAGINAL DRYNESS

Vaginal Dryness can be caused

by.... (besides estrogen loss)

1. Stress
Psychological and emotional factors like stress and
anxiety can also interfere with sexual desire and lead
to vaginal dryness when normal vaginal lubrication
does not occur.

2. Pregnancy and Childbirth

While a woman is pregnant and after she gives birth,
she can experience fluctuating hormonal levels.
Pregnancy and childbirth create imbalances in
hormones.

3. Medications
Antihistamines effectively “dry” a person out,
reducing all secretions. As a side effect will
indiscriminately dry out other parts of the body,
including the vaginal walls.

4. Diabetes
Women with diabetes actually have a 33% increased
incidence of vaginal dryness due to functional
vascular changes and medications.

LESS PAIN, MORE PLEASURE

Now let's dive in to some treatment options.

An interesting but not-so-fun fact: When your vagina

gets dry, the clitoris shrinks. This decreases the
physical feeling of an orgasm SIGNIFICANTLY.

This also contributes to a low libido. However, when

you use bio-identical vaginal estrogen and/or dhea to
heal your vagina, your libido improves, too. Serums are
quickly absorbed into the vaginal walls, where they are
needed to help restore the moisture and elasticity to
the tissue, and do not leak out causing a mess.

When you use bio-identical low-dose local vaginal

estrogen, the elasticity of your vaginal tissues are
restored and stretch as they should.

LESS PAIN, MORE PLEASURE

When your vagina gets dry, your inside vaginal tissues

lose their ability to stretch to accommodate your
partner comfortably, even when using lubrication.

GLOW Below Bioidentical vaginal rejuvenation serum

contains ingredients to moisten both the inside of your
vagina and the vulva area (outside of the vagina),
bathing the clitoris which helps stimulate the return of
feeling to the clitoris.

So it’s pretty simple, right?

The ingredients in GLOW Below bioidentical vaginal

rejuvenation serum have been proven in research to
hydrate the tissues, balance vaginal ph, repair damaged
skin and strengthen the muscles of the vagina, so the
intensity of your orgasms increases.

Not only that, as a woman ages, she can experience

urinary leakage. With the increased strength of the
vaginal tissues, urinary leakage is reduced.
