TRANSFORMATION OF SENTENCE
ASSERTIVE TO INTERROGATIVE :
Rule 1: If the sentence is in the affirmative you have to change it into negative
interrogative. If it is in negative then you have to change it into bare interrogative.
Example:
Assertive: He was very gentle.
Interrogative: Was not he very gentle?
Affirmative: He is not a good person.
Interrogative: Is he a good person?
INTERROGATIVE TO ASSERTIVE:
While transforming interrogative sentences into assertive sentences, we add 'not' if the

ASSERTIVE TO EXCLAMATORY:
Rule 1: What /how + adjective + subject + verb + rest of the sentence +’!’
Note: If there is ‘a’ before adjective-- then it becomes ‘what a’, if not then it starts with
‘how’.
Example:
Assertive - It is a very beautiful place.
Exclamatory – What a beautiful place it is!
Assertive – The man is very honest.
Exclamatory – How honest the man is!
EXCLAMATORY TO ASSERTIVE:

Rule 3: In case of ‘If/Would that/ O that’ in exclamatory sentence, the assertive sentence

AFFIRMATIVE TO NEGETIVE:
While transforming an affirmative sentence into negative sentence, use an antonym for
the adjective and add a negative word so that the meaning of the sentence does not
change.
Note: If there is ‘always’ in an affirmative sentence, never will be used for ‘ever/always’
