Subject: ABTECN4S (ARC 214)

Submitted to: Professor Mark G. Delfin
Submitted by: Orlino, Joshua S.
PART I. GENERAL

A. DESCRIPTION

The General and Supplementary Conditions accompanying these Specifications are integral
components governing the work under this Division of the Specification. The scope of work
outlined in this Division encompasses the fabrication, furnishing, delivery, and
comprehensive installation of the Electrical System at the project premises. This includes all
necessary materials and labor incidental to ensuring the proper completion of the
installation, except for those portions of the work explicitly designated for completion by
others.

All work performed under this Division must strictly adhere to the governing Codes and
Regulations. In cases where there is a conflict between the specifications and such Codes or
Regulations, the latter shall take precedence. The requirements pertaining to materials and
workmanship establish the prescribed standards for the finishing of all labor, materials, and
appliances essential for the thorough installation of the specified work, as indicated in the
drawings.

B. WORK INCLUDED

1. Provide all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to fully execute the Electrical
System as depicted in the Electrical Drawings.

2. Installation, Testing, and Commissioning: Ensure the provision of labor and materials
required for the installation, testing, and commissioning of the electrical system as
specified in the Contract Documents. Follow applicable codes and regulations.

3. Supply and install all labor, materials, apparatus, equipment, and appliances essential
for the proper function of the systems described in the Contract Documents. This
includes items explicitly mentioned and those reasonably implied as essential,
regardless of explicit mention in the Contract Drawings and Specifications.

C. STANDARD AND CODE COMPLIANCE

When materials or equipment are required to adhere to standards set forth by organizations
like the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society for Testing and
Materials (ASTM), National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), and Underwriters
Laboratories (UL), evidence of such conformity must be provided to the Engineer for
approval.

1. Ensure compliance with the codes, requirements, rules, and regulations of the power
and communication utility companies serving the building.

2. Adhere to the mandates of agencies or authorities governing any aspect of the work
and obtain all necessary permits.
3. If codes or standards are referenced in this document, the relevant sections must be
followed.

4. Plans, specifications, codes, and standards represent the minimum requirements. In

cases of variance, adhere to the more stringent requirement.

5. Conduct all work in accordance with the industry's best practices, executed
meticulously and substantially by skilled workers. Assign a competent, experienced
full-time Professional Electrical Engineer authorized to make decisions.

6. All equipment must meet or surpass the minimum requirements of the following:
• NEC (National Electrical Code)
• PEC (Philippine Electrical Code)
• ANSI (American National Standards Institute)
• ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)
• EPA Environmental Protection Agency
• ETL Electrical Testing Laboratories, Inc. I
• EEE Institute of Electrical and Electronic Project manager
• IPCEA International Power Cable Project manager Association
• NEMA National Electrical Manufacturers Association
• NFPA National Fire Protection Association
• OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Administration
• UL Underwriters Laboratories

PART II. PRODUCTS

A. EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS

1. Use specified products or materials indicated on the Drawings for specific items or
systems. If not specified, use first-class products or materials, subject to approval by
the Employer or Project Manager.

2. Ensure that all provided products or materials are brand new, clean, and free from
defects, damage, and corrosion.

3. Verify that all products and materials do not contain asbestos, PCBs, or any other
hazardous material prohibited by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), or any other relevant
agency.

4. Replace any products or materials of lesser quality than specified.

5. Affix name/data plates on all equipment components with manufacturer's name,

model number, serial number, capacity data, and electrical characteristics.
6. Ensure that the installation of equipment, materials, and devices is supervised by
qualified engineers or specialty trade personnel.
7. Maintain consistency in the brand or manufacturer of products, materials, and
equipment used in similar applications and sizes.

8. Fully lubricate equipment during installation.

9. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for installing, connecting, and adjusting

equipment and devices. Provide one copy of these instructions to the Project
Manager before installation and ensure a clear copy is properly attached to the
equipment during installation work.

B. ALTERNATIVE MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

1. Ensure that the materials specified and equipment manufacturers indicated on the
Drawings or Specifications are followed. Approval by the Employer or Employer's
representative of alternative equipment manufacturers does not exempt the
Contractor from the responsibility to provide equipment and materials meeting the
performance requirements stated or implied in the Contract Documents.

2. Only equipment manufacturers listed in individual sections are acceptable and

subject to the requirements of the contract documents. Any revisions necessary to
accommodate alternative proposals, including revisions by other trades, must be
included. No increase in the contract price will be considered to accommodate the
use of alternative equipment.

3. Substituted equipment must conform substantially to the quantities specified or

implied, especially when operating results or specific apparatus make and size are
indicated. The proposed substitution must fit within available space conditions and
function properly in coordination with the rest of the system.

PART III. EXECUTION

A. FEES

1. Pay all necessary fees, excluding deposits for local electric utility companies.
2. Ensure payment of royalties or fees associated with the use of patented devices and
systems.
3. Provide controlled inspection where mandated by local authorities or specified in
these specifications.

B. WORKING DRAWINGS AND DATA

1. Provide materials and equipment by manufacturer, trade name, and model number.
Include copies of relevant brochures or catalog materials.
2. Keep a complete set of reviewed and stamped shop drawings and product data on
site.

3. Prepare and submit detailed shop drawings for critical areas or areas with conflicts
with other plans.

4. Drawings should be to scale, not less than 1:50 meters.

5. Clearly identify each sheet of printed submittal pages by using marks such as arrows,
underlining, circling, or highlighting to indicate applicable sizes, types, model
numbers, ratings, capabilities, and proposed options.

C. FLOOR PLANS

All working plans shall be of a scale not less than 1:100mts. Equipment specified in the
proposed plans shall be followed exactly where they are placed. The floor plans shall be
prepared according to this instructions.

1. The drawings must be prepared utilizing the dimensions contained in the plans.

2. The physical spaces such as door swings and ceiling heights shall be indicated.

3. All other equipment such as panels, devices, structural elements shall be illustrated.

4. Operating weight of each equipment shall be indicated.

5. Note dimensions and clearance of all equipment.

D. WORK COORDINATION

1. Follow the electrical drawings closely during actual construction, considering the
work of others.
