MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM IN EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION

REPORTER: AIRA SABELA-REPULDA MAED

6.2.1 LEARNERS INFORMATION SYSTEM DEFINED

The LIS is an innovative tool that the Department uses to manage

information with the aim of promoting transparency, informed decision
making, and empowerment at different levels of the organization.

The Learner Information System (LIS) is a centralized database that

tracks student data from public and private schools in the Philippines. It
contains student profiles, enrollment histories, academic performances and
other details. The Department of Education manages and regulates access
to the LIS.

Teachers can access the system to enroll students, take attendance, upload
grades and generate reports. Each student is assigned a unique Learner
Reference Number (LRN) for identification. The LIS follows data protection
policies to safeguard student information and only authorized users have
access to the system. It is linked to the Voucher Management System to
help qualify students for government assistance programs.

What is the importance of Learner Information System?

On the other hand, the LIS stores specific information about individual
learners, such as their name, date of birth, and educational history. These
portals are critical for ensuring that relevant and accurate data is available
to stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and policy formulation.

The LIS Dashboard consists of the following components:

 Masterlist or the School Register – displays the list of learners

by school year and/or by grade and section. This component
also provides the facility to search a learner, register a learner
and enrol a learner individually or by class (batch enrolment
facility).
 List of Classes – displays the list of classes and the total
enrolment by class for a given school year. This component also
provides the facility to create new classes/sections at the start
of a school year.
 School Forms – provides access to various reports include
Forms 1,2, 4 and 5.

SUPERVISION OF INSTRUCTION
REPORTER: AIRA SABELA-REPULDA MAED

I. THE MEANING AND SCOPE OF SUPERVISION

1.4 TECHNIQUES OF SUEPRVISION (GIST)

Gist gives the techniques of supervision under the following headings.
1. Teacher Diagnosis
2. Pupil Diagnosis
3. Diagnosis of Curricular Offerings
4. Survey of Method in Instruction
5. Budgeting of Time in Supervision
6. Classroom Visitation
7. Teacher's Meeting and Conference
8. Demonstration Teaching
9. Professional Growth
10. Teacher-Pupil Relationship
11. Evaluation of Supervision

The foregoing activities are proofs that the scope of modern supervision is
considerately broader than that the older philosophy of supervision. Usually,
the scope of the supervisor's job has been largely limited to such activities
as classroom visits, individual or group teacher conferences, rating teacher,
recommending instructional materials, and study groups, in which as the
Supervisor usually instructs the teachers in some aspects of the teaching
job. At present, however, the supervisor or principal and teachers must be
concerned with the "total teaching learning situation" which includes the
teachers, the classroom, and the pupils. It also includes both the
curriculum and the administrative factors involved, such as scheduling of
school programs, policies on pupils' progress, methods of pupils’ evaluation,
allocation of funds for materials and equipment, and other aspects, which
affect the teaching-learning situation. It is evident therefore that the scope of
supervision has broadened.
