Scene: The Client is struggling on balancing his basketball and

Studies

Step 1: Relationship Building

*Client knocks on the door, the counselor opens it, and they both
walked into the chairs to sit down.*

Counselor: Hi, good day, I’m Rose, and I’m here to help you. How are
you feeling today?

Client: I’m okay, thanks.

*Client is sighing*

Step 2: Problem Assessment

Counselor: *Watches client attentively* Hmm.. Good to hear. So, what’s

been on your mind lately?

Client: I’ve been stressed about balancing basketball and school. I am not
aware that it’s hard to handle both. *Sighed heavily*

Counselor: *Nods* I understand. Can you tell me more about how this
struggle is affecting you?

Client: It’s like… I’m always torn between practicing and studying.
*Forehead scrunch* I never seem to have enough time for either.
*Shoulders slumped*

Counselor: That sounds tough. Why did you decide to seek counseling
for this? *Head tilt*

Client: I just don’t know how to deal with it alone anymore. It’s affecting
my performance in both areas.

Counselor: It’s brave of you to reach out. *Smiles* Let’s figure this out
together. Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses in
managing your time and priorities?

Step 3: Goal Setting

Client: I think… I’m good at making goals, but I struggle with doing it
constantly. Also, I can’t manage my time effectively. *Sighs*

Counselor: Now that we understand your situation better, what do you

want to achieve through our sessions?

Client: I want to balance basketball and school without feeling

overwhelmed all the time causing me not to do well both on basketball
and my studies. *Client scratches their hair.*

Step 4: Counseling Intervention

Counselor: Great goal. Let’s break it down into smaller steps. How about
we start by finding strategies to manage your time better?

Client: That sounds good. I’m open to trying new things.

Counselor: *Nods* Perfect. Let’s start with some time management

techniques and create a plan that fits your schedule.

Client: Okay, I am trusting on you. I know you can find a solution on my

problem. *Smiles*

Step 5: Evaluation, Termination, or Referral

Counselor: Thank you. *Clasped hands* So, as we go on, we’ll check if

what we’re doing is helping you reach your goals. If you ever feel like
you want to stop or need more help, we can talk about what we can do
more to provide all the support you needed.

Client: Thank you so much for your help. *Smiles and tried to reach for
the counselors shoulder to tap it.*

Counselor: You’re very welcome, but of course. We’re a team, and we’ll
get through this together. *Taps back the client’s shoulder.*

*Client stands up so the counselor follows*
