Dear Mr. Nowak,

I am writing with reference to the new burglar alarm in your apartment.

Recently I’ve been constantly hearing noise coming from the alarm system, although there were no
burglaries in our block. When it ringed for the first time I was concerned, but I discovered it clearly
does not work properly. I am not sure if you are aware of this problem, however for me and my
flatmates it is extremely disturbing, especially at night. On Monday around 3.00 a.m. the alarm
ranged three times, therefore I could not sleep. Moreover, the neighbours from flat number 4
evacuated, convinced something bad was happening. I understand your apprehension about the
safety, nonetheless it violates quiet and comfort of our community.

I have already tried talking to your wife at the staircase last week. Unfortunately, she was too busy
and did not have time for a conversation. Because of the constant noise, I am writing to you, hoping
we will be able to solve the problem without engaging the housing estate council. If not, I will be
obliged to inform them.

To resolve this matter, I kindly request that you fix your alarm, turn it off or buy a new one soon.
