A wireless network is a computer network that uses
radio waves to communicate between computers
rather than using wires or cables. The term
wireless refers to the fact that it does not require
any physical connection (such as a wire) between
devices on the network. Instead, each device

wireless networks:

 Wireless Local Area Network (LAN):

Links two or more devices using a wireless
distribution method, providing a connection
through access points to the wider Internet.
 Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks
(MAN): Connects several wireless LANs.
 Wireless Wide Area Network (WAN):
Covers large areas such as neighboring
towns and cities.
 Wireless Personal Area Network (PAN):
Interconnects devices in a short span,
generally within a person’s reach.just like
Bluetooth

 The Components of a Wireless
Network
To set up a wireless network, you need three basic
components:
 Access Points
 Routers
 Clients
Access Points
An access point is a piece of equipment that acts like
a bridge between the wired and wireless worlds.
Routers
A router is a device that forwards data packets
between different parts of a network.
Clients
A client is a device that wants to get online. Clients
include laptops, desktop PCs, mobile phones,
