questions below.

Types of Commissions

Salary Plus Commission

 When an agent gets a salary on top of the commission, he/she will get for
every sale that he/she can make.
 You’re guaranteed a fixed salary and earn commission on top of that.

Example 5 (Salary Plus Commission)

Mr. Bong Ga works in a company with a minimum salary wage of PhP15,000

monthly. On top of his salary, he is expected to sell appliances worth PhP8,000. He
can get an additional 3% commission when he exceeds his expected sales. He
fortunately made a sale worth PhP14,700. How much will be his gross pay?

Given:
Commission rate = 3%
Total Sale = Php12,700
Basic Salary = Php15,000

Formula:
Commission + Basic Salary

Solution:
Compute for Commission:
= 3% x (Php12,700-Php8,000)
= 0.03 x (Php6,700)
= Php201

Commission + Basic Salary

= Php201 + Php15,000
= Php15,201

Answer:
Mr. Bong Ga’s gross pay is Php15,201.

Example 6 (Salary Plus Commission)

Dingdong decides to work for another company that will pay him PhP2,000 per
week and 10% commission on sales above PhP20,000 for the week. If he sold goods
worth PhP26,000, what is his gross pay be?

Given:
Commission rate = 10%
Total Sale = Php26,000
Basic Salary = Php2,000

Formula:
Commission + Basic Salary

Solution:
Compute for Commission:
= 10% x (Php26,000-Php20,000)
= 0.1 x (Php6,000)
= Php600

Commission + Basic Salary

= Php600 + Php2,000
= Php2,600

Answer:
Dingdong’s gross pay is Php2,600.

3. Anne works in a commission only company. She sold items worth

Php13,000 and she will get a 6% commission rate. How much did she earn?
