The bar chart shows type of media to get daily news, by age group 2011

The bar chart provides information on how people in different age groups read news on
a daily basis in 2011.

Overall, radio was the most common means of receiving news daily among all age
groups except for the 10-17s who preferred social networking websites. Additionally,
the 18-29 age group had the highest percentage of individuals who accessed news
through all three media types.

Regarding the two youngest groups, four-fifths of those aged 10-17 used social
platforms for their daily news consumption, double the figure for radio and quadruple
that for micro-blogging. In contrast, all but 5% of the 18-29-year-olds opted for radio, the
highest figure listed in the chart, compared to 80% of this cohort choosing social
networking sites and a quarter of them favouring microblogging platforms.

Concerning the remaining age brackets, 75% - 85% of people listened to the radio for
their daily news while the figures for microblogging were almost negligible, ranging from
2% to 13%. In terms of social media channels, 45% of the 30-49-year-olds chose this
method whereas a third of the 50-64s did so, which was triple the proportion for those
over 65 years old. (183 words)
