The table and charts detailed below give information about the police budget in 2017 and

2018 in one area of Britain.

The table illustrates the funding sources for the police in Britain in 2017 and 2018,
accompanied by two pie charts depicting the allocation of this budget.
Overall, there was an increase in contributions from all funding sources, with local taxes
experiencing the most substantial growth. However, governmental funding remained the
largest source of financial support. In terms of expenditure, there was a notable rise in
technology expenses, whereas salaries declined, although the latter continued to constitute
the majority of the budget.

Regarding the funding, the total amount increased by £13.9 million, reaching £318.6 million in
2019. Among the three categories, the national government's contribution was the highest,
marginally rising by around £2 million to £177.8 million. Despite being lower in both years,
local taxes displayed a significant increase from £91.2 million to £102.3 million. Other funding
sources, such as grants, remained relatively unchanged, hovering around £38 million in both
years.

Concerning budget allocation, salaries accounted for 75% of the budget in 2017 before
decreasing to 69% in the following year. Having an opposite direction, spending on
technology nearly doubled, rising from 8% to 14%. Meanwhile, the allocation for buildings and
transport remained consistent at 17% for each year examined.
