teacher leadership plays in facilitating deeper learning for all students . The participants were educational
stakeholders: teachers, principals, district leaders, legislators, and the public. The findings were that every
education stakeholder can help advance teacher leadership, which, in turn, will cultivate schools that all students
deserve. Berry suggested that teachers have a responsibility to support and encourage other teachers. This
literature is related to CSTP 1 in that it argues that an effective teacher leadership system will result deeper learning
for all students. As a teacher leader, this paper reminds me that I should take an active and purposeful role in being
a teacher leader, and that a successful leadership system requires support from administration.
Position Paper on Teacher Leadership
The position statement, Teacher Leadership by the NASSP explored how to create sustainable and supportive
systems for teacher leaders to collaborate with principals for the success of their students.. The participants were
federal and state policymakers, district and school leaders, and teachers. The findings were that nearly 70 percent
of teachers say they have no interest in being principal, but more than half expressed interest in taking on
leadership roles. The paper suggested that district leaders should provide professional learning opportunities for
principals who support teacher leaders. This literature is related to CSTP 6 in that it acknowledges the importance
to support teachers’ and principals’ professional growth. As a teacher leader, this paper reminds me that I should be
understanding with my principal, and remember that she has a lot on her plate too. This paper gives me suggestions
