Company History:
TSU was formed in 1999 to address a gap in the private security market in South Africa – a need for
highly trained professionals in effective Risk Management, Executive Protection, Technical Services /
Electronic Security, Specialized Training, Asset Protection, Armed Tactical Support Teams and
Executive Support Services. Because of the exceptional high standards and service provided by
TSU, the company provides an additional service of armed trained static Security Officers, for the
protection of client’s business and residential properties.

ADVANCED TACTICAL SURVIVAL
TSU Training Solutions offers an Advanced Tactical Survival Course. The course is a combination of
tactical and basic rural operations.

the same certificates as that is served to our own. Our instructors not only teach their skills and

Assessors and Moderators of the skills and course programs they present. The TSU trainers are true

INSTRUCTOR PROFILES:

Johan Fryer
Director

Johan joined the South African Police Service in 1985. He was stationed at the
South African Police Service (SAPS) Tshwane College itself and was utilized as a
Musketry Instructor. In 1993 he successfully completed the Special Task Force
Training Course after which he completed his entire advance training courses
and was utilized as a Special Task Force Operator. During his time stationed at the unit, he was
intensely involved in developing courses for the SAPS functional policing but for various other
specialised units as well. In 2006 he was transferred to the STF Operational Unit where he was
utilized as a subject matter expert in the presentation of Rural Survival and Sniping courses presented
as elective training for the unit’s first tier operators.

His operational experience involved numerous operations which have included the release of
hostages from buildings and the release of kidnapped individuals. The apprehending of armed and
dangerous criminals, joint cross-border operations to destroy arms caches and when required
deploying in a counter sniping during the protecting and visiting of numerous Heads of State and
foreign dignitaries on official visits to South Africa. This accumulated into numerous high-risk
operations and experiences. Since leaving the SAPS, Johan joined TSU Training Solutions in 2016 as
Head of Training & Development.

Mac McGuire (Mac)

Instructor

Mac McGuire was a Director and a founding partner of one of the largest Specialised
Security and Protection companies in South Africa until he decided to venture out
into industry as a specialised consultant.

He has been active in the Specialist Security Field and has accumulated over two decade's experience
within the private and public sectors. He started his career in the field of security as a member of various
Specialist Military Units. He has been operational within the Police gaining experience in Law
enforcement training and operations. In the Private Sector he provided protection and served at all
levels (CPO, Planning Officer, and team Leader) to politicians, celebrities, and high-profile
businesspersons. He specialises in security related risk management, Close Personal Protection,
Defensive Tactics (DT) and Firearms Training. He has worked and/or trained in various environments
from first to third world and several cultures. He presented training to Presidential protection units,
Special Forces, Law enforcement personnel, operational CPO’s, reaction teams and various other
security operators and has presented hundreds of training interventions for corporate clients and other
civilians’ groups and individuals.

Mac has been utilised as a verifier for both internal and external functions by SASSETA, PFTC, City
and Guilds, Edexcel and has completed training as ISO 9001 verifier. He is considered a leader in
Quality Assurance and outcomes-based education in the security and firearms realm. He has further
been utilised as individual or as a team member to conduct various security and safety audits in varying
environments and industries.
