QUESTION 1.

What technology is employed in Proton manufacturing to make them run more efficiently?

Proton is one of the biggest automotive manufacturers in the global automotive market.
Proton has spent RM1.2 billion of cumulative investment as their greatest expansion till
today. In addition, Proton Tanjung Malim also improving through technology and system
advanced to improve efficiency of their production. It is to make sure they can reach the
maximum quality and quantity of their output.

By embracing Artificial Intelligent or AI technology, which it is a digital assistant where

hundreds of robots are used to enable Proton Tanjung Malim plant to operate at a maximum
efficiency during production. As we know, technology advanced expand more in industry
today because it is faster and more accurate in manufacturing process. The use of robot
also can increase productivity and at the same time some model of robot technology is
programmed to be multitasking which it is difficult to be done by manpower. Each process
take place by a robot with a detail programmed to ensure the quality of production. With the
control of Artificial Intelligent (AI), it assists the robot to carry out their tasks with the 98%
of accuracy.

The robot is programmed by a highly qualified technicians to ensure the best possible
outcome in every process they carry out. For example, during the engine installation process
a robot is programmed to install the engine in detail to achieve the standard. When a car is
completely finished, it will be tested on the road to make sure there is no available space for
errors. It is to ensure the car have reach the specific standard that can fulfil consumer’s
need and the same time it safe to be used. With such a great technology advanced, Proton
have successfully produced a lot of models of car and this achievement will continue on the
upcoming years.

QUESTION 2.

What is the relationship between this technology and the management information system
(IS)?

The management information system (MIS) is a major infrastructure used by a business or

firm, whereas information technology (IT) is a component of that infrastructure used for
data transmission.

A management information system assists a company in taking decisions, as well as

coordinating and analyzing the data. The use of the system is supported and facilitated by
information technology. For example, to expansion their market Proton for Malaysia gain a
foothold in the global automotive market from RM1.2 billion plus with RM2.3 billion with
total RM3.5 billion. This is cumulative investment to manage their market.

After that, if we looking about the technology by embracing Artificial Intelligent or AI

technology, which it is a digital assistant where hundreds of robots are used to enable
Proton Tanjung Malim plant to operate at a maximum efficiency during production. It can,
for example, be a user interface that allows the user to access data into a corporate MIS
system. IT is a bigger field than MIS in certain aspects. A specific IT application's aims may
or may not fit perfectly within a larger MIS framework; however, this is not always the case.

Management Information Systems deals with the planning for, development, management,
and use of information technology tools to help users to perform information processing and
management-related tasks. So, we can say that the use of IT is actually included in the MIS
process of helping people to work with information. IT is a resource for MIS. For example,
Proton striving and beyond with the use of generated technology they are constantly striving
towards the future having room to grow more.
