This debate discusses the advantages and disadvantages of wearing a uniform as
44% of parents feel that when wearing uniform, children are concentrating better in the lesson, other than thinking of the latest fashion of the class. However, others believe that children feel more confident in their own clothes. Therefore, here are some arguments for and against the concept of school uniform. Firstly, many people claim that students feel safer and more comfortable in their own clothes, rather than in uniform, nevertheless others say that many children get jealous of others, who have more than they do. Therefore, by wearing the same clothes, this can be a solution to the problem. Secondly, when wearing fashionable clothes, students have a paucity of interest of what they are learning, as they focus on appearance of their peers, whilst by wearing uniform, students concentrate on the studies. On the other hand, when students can’t locate their uniform, they have nothing appropriate for school to wear, as they can’t just choose a different jumper, therefore, by not having to be dressed in uniform, students can be dressed much faster and be ready for school punctually. Furthermore, some children feel a coerce to wear uniform and obdurate to participate in the lessons, consequently claiming that students should have a privilege to have a freedom of choice. Conversely, although it is true that children enjoy being able to choose what to wear, students sense a feeling of belonging to their school, which inspires them to continue being industrious and learning in the correct way. School uniform has been around for centuries so changing this would be quite a big deal. On balance, due to these reasons, I have decided that schools should keep the custom because it helps to keep the focus on learning and that is very important. However, if a particular school feels that their students are participating better in their own clothes, then surely they should keep it that way.
