CARESTREAM DRX-1
WORKSTATION: DO
NOT CHANGE THE
DEFAULT IP ADDRESS
(MUST BE SET TO
10.0.1.171)

Figure 3-4. TechVision Configuration Screen

The three essential elements are:
• IP Address - Physical address of the TechVision.
• Subnet Mask - Defines the IP Addresses that can be directly
addressed (called a subnet). For example, if the subnet mask is
set to 255.255.255.0, and the IP address is set to 10.0.0.176,
the only devices that can be connected with this device has to
have an IP Address that begins with 10.0.0.1 and end with
10.0.0.254. Be careful to not use an address outside of this
range for anything in the QBus network that has to be
connected. Note that the normal entry here is 255.255.255.0.
• Default Gateway - The address of the device which connects to
addresses outside of the subnet. In the above example, any
address outside of the 10.0.0.xx range will be sent to this
address where it will be routed to and from its destination. This
address must be within the Subnet as defined by the Subnet
Mask above and be assigned by the network system
administrator.

CAUTION! Do not assign the same IP Address

to two devices on the QBus local area net
(LAN). Doing so will cause data routing con-
flicts and will result in error messages
appearing on the central network computer
console. Obtain the specific IP Address from
the Network System Administrator.

(Accessed via "Modify" Buttons from TechVision Configuration Screen)
In order to change the parameters of any of the three address elements, press
the Modify button (see Figure 3-4). An Address Dialog Box for each of the three
parameters (shown above) appears when the respective Modify button is
touched:
1. Make the necessary entries on the specific parameter input screen (i.e., IP
Address, Subnet Mask, or Default Gateway) using the numeric keypad in the
respective Address Dialog Box (see Figure 3-5). Note that an entry above
255 in any box will cause the box to be shown in red and will cause the Enter
key to be disabled. Pressing Back moves back either a character or a box at
a time. Cancel brings you back to the Device Settings Screen.
2. After all desired modifications have been completed on the Device Settings
Screen, press the Save key. The settings will be output to the TechVision.
Apr Configuration Settings

that comes from the integrated Digital Radiographic System’s Com-
puter Workstation, and displays a thumbnail image on the view but-
ton. If set to Off, the image preview screen does not display and the
thumbnail has the notation "Image Unavailable". This may be useful
for HIPAA or privacy reasons, depending on facility policy.
• Image Preview Timeout: Sets a default time out limit that hides the
Preview Image and reverts back to the screen that was active when
the image was displayed. Settings available are "Infinity" to 60 sec-
onds, in 5 second increments. "Infinity" means no timeout (will not
leave the preview screen), until a key selection is made, or the study
is ended at the Workstation.
Generator Configuration Settings
The Generator Configuration Settings Screen contains the "Generator Func-
tion" enable/disable setting, IP address setting, and the tube angle interlock
setting (disables exposure if the tube is not pointed toward the proper
image receptor.
• The Enabled field is set based upon the type of hand grip (TechVision

modified in the field.
NOTE: Performance of the following sys-
tem calibrations depends on the type
tube support (i.e., Model QS-550 Free-
Standing Tube Support, or RS-590 Over-
head Tube Crane) on which TechVision is
installed. Refer to the paragraph corre-
sponding to your tube support type.

This screen offers five choices:
• Vertical 40" Detent - This feature provides a software-driven
detent, when the Tubestand Calibration item ("Vertical 40" Detent")
is set to "On". This functionality also requires that the X-ray tube is
pointed at the radiographic table, and the velocity of the vertical axis
is low and steady. When properly activated, the vertical axis will
stop at the 40" SID position.
• Handle Unlock Vertical Only - The brake release buttons ("pinky"
switches), imbedded in the handles of the TechVision unit, can be
configured to allow vertical movement only when the Tubestand
Calibration screen item is set to "On". Otherwise, the buttons unlock
all linear travel axes.
• Locking Speed Calibration - Adjusts the speed limit for lock
activation (200 mm/s, 175 mm/s, 150 mm/s, or 125 mm/s settings
are available). Note that the faster the limit setting, a more abrupt

essary to measure at a fraction of an inch added to
both 10" and 40" measurements so that the whole
inch display on the TechVision more closely matches
other SID measurement and display means. If accept-
able precision cannot be achieved in the display rela-
tive to another, there is the option of turning off the
display (contact Quantum Service Department for
instructions on Widget Configuration Utility) and only
rely on the other SID display means. If the SID display
does not move in concert with the tube/handgrip ver-
tical travel, check the connection path from the height
potentiometer on the RS-590 and the TechVision.

4. Exit to the Main Screen, and verify the SID indication on the
TechVision screen correctly tracks the height of the tube.

TECHVISION MAIN BOARD (AY40-093S)

The TechVision main board provides the following functions:
Power Supply — Main power input (isolated and unregulated), +24 -28 V dc
from the generator or tubestand, is converted through a double output Buck
regulator (U4/U5), to +5 V dc and +12 V dc. Using a dc linear regulator
(U3), +3.3 V dc is created for the Single Board Computer (AY40-092S), and
low voltage microcontroller logic. LED indicators (labeled "12VOK", "3V3 OK",
and "5V OK"), on the TechVision Main PCB (AY40-093S), provide a means for
quickly monitoring the status of these power supplies.
Real-time System Control — The Main Microcontroller (U2), provides real-
time high speed system control of functions, such as CAN-Bus, Keypad/
Switch interface, Inclinometer measurements, and CAN-Bus interface. This
processor is programmed at the factory with firmware to control real-time
functions.
Solid-State Inclinometer — The inclination angle measurement (tube angle)
of the TechVision, and attached X-Ray tube assembly, is determined by a 3-
axis solid-state MEMS sensor (U8), which measures acceleration (in all direc-
tions) due to gravity. Tube angle/inclination is calculated by the Main Micro-
controller (U2) from this data.
Galvanically Isolated CAN-Bus Interface — CAN-BUS and CAN-OPEN commu-
nication between the TechVision and attached components, such as tubes-
tands, tables, cassette trays, automatic collimators, DAP chambers, is
provided by Main Microcontroller (U2), and CAN-BUS physical layer Transmit-
ter (U1). This interface also provides galvanic isolation between the CANBUS
data I/O lines and the TechVision electronics. CAN-BUS interface is provided
on connectors J5 and J6 on the TechVision Main PCB.
Keypad/Switch Interface — The Main Microcontroller (U2), reads all actua-
tions of keys/buttons on the front membrane keypad and handle switches,
and relays the corresponding signals to the Single Board Computer (AY40-
092S), via high speed serial bus and other connected components, such as a
tubestands, via CANBUS interface.
LVDS LCD Interface — The TechVision Main PCB (AY40-093S) provides a
high-speed serial LVDS interface between the Single Board Computer (AY40-
092S) and the LCD Touchscreen Display unit (EL31-032). The LCD LVDS
Interface is formed by U9 and associated components.
Real-time Clock — The TechVision Main PCB (AY40-093S) provides a real-time
clock and calendar that is used by the Single Board Computer (AY40-092S).
The Real-time Clock Subsystem consists of a clock circuit, formed by U10 and
associated components, including battery BT1. This circuit maintains System
date and time when the TechVision is powered off. In the event that the sys-
tem does not keep time when powered off, the battery should be replaced
before any other electrical components are replaced. The estimated life of
the battery is 5 years from date of manufacture.

graphical display functions. The high-speed real-time functions, such as CAN-BUS
communication, real-time inclinometer/tube angle measurement, and keypad
interface, are performed by a high speed ARM Cortex M3 processor, located on
the AY40-093S PCB. The two processors communicate with each other via a high
speed serial bus architecture.
SYSTEM COMMUNICATION
TechVision communicates with the X-ray generator and DR imaging system via
Ethernet. This is accomplished using an Ethernet Switch, which also has an
Ethernet connection to the generator (when equipped with Q-Connect Option).
The Q-Connect Option, facilitates communication between the generator and
other Ethernet-connected devices, such as TechVision. In addition, the
TechVision employs a secondary communication channel for real-time CAN-BUS
Commands, used in controlling connected X-ray tubestands, tables, automatic
collimators, and certain dose area product measurement equipment. The CAN-
Bus communication channel is fully galvanically isolated from any connected
equipment. The high speed CANBus network also provides a means to
synchronize all information across the system, including detector/grid orientation,
source-to-image distance (SID), tube inclination/angle measurements, and many
other parameters.

TECHVISION QS-550 INTERFACE PCB (AY40-094S)

The following section describes the attributes and functionality of the AY40-094S
board, which is present in systems configured for use with the Quantum QS-550
Tubestand.
The TechVision QS-550 Interface PCB provides the following functions:
1. Power Supply: Mains isolated unregulated +24-28 V dc from the generator or
tubestand is input from the tubestand on J7 pins 1-3 and converted through a
single output Buck regulator (U4) to +5 V dc. A Linear Regulator (U3) cre-
ates +3.3 V dc from 5 V dc for low voltage Microcontroller (U2) logic. Addi-
tionally, two available pins of the CANBUS Connector (J5/J6 pins 7,8) are used
to pass power through to the TechVision Main PCB (AY40-093S) via an exter-
nal RJ45 jumper.
2. Real Time System Control: The Main Microcontroller (U2), provides Real time
high-speed system control of functions such as 40-inch and 72-inch SID
Detent switch monitoring, Continuous SID measurements (optional), CAN-
Bus interface, output to control relays for releasing electromagnetic brakes.
This processor is programmed at the factory with firmware to control real
time functions.
3. Galvanically Isolated CAN-Bus interface: CAN-BUS and CAN-OPEN communi-
cation between the TechVision and attached components, such as tubes-
tands, tables, cassette trays, automatic collimators, DAP chambers, is
provided by Main Microcontroller (U2) and CAN-BUS physical layer Transmit-

ter (U1). This interface also provides galvanic isolation between the CANBUS
data I/O lines and the TechVision electronics. CAN-BUS interface is provided
on the TechVision QS-550 Interface PCB (connectors J5 and J6).
4. Isolated SID Detent Input Circuit: The Main Microcontroller (U2) reads all
detent switches (optically isolated by U7 and U8), and will relay these switch
closures to the TechVision Main PCB (AY40-093S), via high speed CAN-BUS.
5. Isolated Output Circuit: The QS-550 Interface PCB (AY40-093S), provides
relay-isolated, dry contact closures, to control up to four electromagnetic
brakes in the QS-550 Tubestand. Relay K1 will unlock the Vertical Brake, K2
unlocks the Tube Angle Brake, K3 unlocks transverse movement, and K4
unlocks Longitudinal movement. These relays are all designed to maintain all
brakes in a locked state (i.e., fail-safe), when they are not energized. The
relays are controlled by Main Microcontroller U2, via commands received over
the CAN-BUS interface from TechVision Main PCB (AY40-093S).
