Assalamualaikum and a good day to all teachers and my dear friends.


Today, I QAIREEN ALEESYA REPRESENTATIVE OF THE ANTI-DRUG BADGE
SCHEME would like to raise awareness according to the topic of vape. Vape is
identified as a battery-operated device that people use to inhale aerosol, a
suspension of particles or droplets in the air. Including airborne dust, mist, fumes or
smoke. As a matter of fact, vapes are originally used to deliver nicotine, cannabis
(THC, CBD), flavorings, chemicals, and other substances. Even so, vaping products
contain a great deal fewer harmful chemicals than cigarettes and can be an
effective tool in quitting smoking altogether. These products can reduce the amount
of tar and other chemicals a person inhales, however they can increase a person's
nicotine dependency. This will take a 180 degree turn as it will highlight the adverse
effects on users if they regularly vape excessively. Over time, the habit will increase
a person's rate of becoming addicted to vape and potentially have difficulty quitting.

The side effects of excessive vaping may lead to anxiety and depression towards
our mental health. On the other hand, physically our body will have a high risk in
having nicotine addiction, severe lung injury (EVALI), seizures, cryptogenic
organizing pneumonia, stokes, heart attacks, as well as cardiovascular (heart)
disease as vape also contain acrolein, a herbicide primarily used to kill weeds. It
can cause acute lung injury and COPD and may cause asthma and lung cancer. To
this dismay, vape has killed 68 pupils and most of them are among teens and young
adults. Like I said, once you are addicted to vape it may be hard for you to recover.
But as we know, nothing is impossible.

Ways to overcome this problem are by planning a quit vaping goal. In hopes to
change for the better, list out strategies on how you can cope with your cravings for
vape. For example, distract yourself by doing meaningful and beneficial activities,
hobbies, or organize a bucket list to try things you’ve never done before.
Furthermore, try not to pile all the burden on your shoulders. Instead, be open to
share your feelings with your families, friends and even teachers. By doing so, you
will gain the support you need and slowly you will find your way to the end of the
finish line. If those tips don't work, it is advisable for you to seek help from the
experts as soon as possible. Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry.

In conclusion, vape is no less dangerous than cigarettes. They have their own
strengths and weaknesses that we all should be aware of. Hence, putting your life
at risk is not one in a million so make sure to take good care of yourselves at all
costs. As a friendly reminder from the Anti-Drug Badge Scheme, do maintain a
healthy lifestyle and stay positive!
