CONTROL INTERSEDE 2

7th Grade SYLLABUS

❖ Content to Evaluate:

1. FANBOYS: To apply accurately for, and, nor, but, or, yet and so.
2. Adjectives: To describe people, places, and things using descriptive adjectives.

❖ Abilities to evaluate:
1. Reading:
a. Understand the main points in texts. To identify the main idea in a paragraph
or text.
b. Understand specific ideas in a text.
c. Infer meaning or deduce the opinion in a text.

Nouns Nouns are words that refer to people, places, things or ideas. There are 2 types:
Common and proper. Common nouns are people, places, things, or ideas which are generic.
Proper nouns are specific people, places, things or ideas. These are always CAPITALIZED

Adjectives Adjectives are words that describe or limit nouns or pronouns. They give a
characteristic to the subject of the sentence. Example: Purple shorts; beautiful girl; two-
years-old baby; green car.

Verbs Verbs are words that are used to describe an action being performed; are one of the
most important parts of speech.

Adverbs Words used to modify the meaning of a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
(examples: always, once, quickly too, there)

Pronouns A pronoun is a word that is used in place of a noun. Examples: I, it, you, he, she,
we, him, them, whom, someone, everyone, none, anybody, that
We use interjections to express emotions such as pleasure, surprise, shock and disgust.
Most interjections are just sounds, rather than actual words, and come at the beginning or at
the end of what we say. Interjections are more common in speaking than in writing: Ouch, it
stings. (expresses pain) You’re going to the Maldives. That’s a long way, wow. (expresses
surprise and wonder) Hooray, here comes the bus at last! (expresses delight) Ugh, sorry, I
can’t eat tomatoes. (expresses disgust)

Jason enjoyed the movie about France. The musicians play marching songs. She sent them
to him as a birthday gift. They collided near the school. After the death of his beloved queen,
he was arrested for being a disloyal citizen. His adventurous career came to an abrupt end
when he was executed for piracy in 1618. It is ranked as the second largest bridge in the
world. It is constantly being painted. Wow! I never knew that. Oh, did I do that? Originally
"sirocco" was a name used by people of North Africa. It was not used for ordinary wind. 1
