HISTORY

The history of Cancun is marked by its

transformation from a jungle and sparsely
inhabited region to one of the most important
tourist destinations in the world.

On January 23, 1970, Cancun was officially

established as a growing community, and its
development continued at a rapid pace.
GASTRONOMY
The gastronomy of the cantina
is nourished by panuchos,
salbutes, tamales, empanadas
and garnachas. The typical
drink of the state is
Xtabentún, a liquor made with
fermented honey from bees
that feed on Xtabentún flower
and anise.
Cancun revolves around sun,
sand, and endless free drinks,
but there's also a lesser-known
cultural side to this Yucatan
paradise.
