CONCEPT OF CO-LIVING & CO-WORKING SPACE
• Co-living is a kind of community housing arrangement, where like-minded people stay together and share their
accommodations. After co-working co-living is the latest concept getting widely spread across india .

• Because of interests from the millennial i.e the younger generation in the age group of 20-30 years and living more
independently in India so, there is room for the co-living space companies to get flourish.

• As in 2021 various Co-living start-ups have come up with their models and they started with the business activities and
getting great responses from the younger college-going students to corporate professionals.

• Most of the projected demand comes from students studying in different colleges and single working professionals
across the county.

• In India, the co-living concept is gaining widespread acceptance and has brought to the front some new
models in the private rental sector.

• Though the concept is novel, it’s here to stay, as India’s millennial population currently accounts for 440
million.

• The growing interest for co-living spaces in cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR,
Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, and other cities like Ahmadabad, Kota, Cochin, Jaipur, Kanpur, Dehradun &
Nagpur this is a big opportunity for the real estate investment community.

TREEHOUSE COLIVING APARTMENTS

Treehouse is a 72-unit co-living complex in the heart of
the kangnam, the start-up hub of seoul. Composed of
micro-studios and micro-lofts, it is designed for single
professionals and their animal companions. Treehouse is
centered by an interior garden that is lined with
collaborative work areas, relaxing lounge spots, co-
kitchen, laundry and pet baths.
Above the garden are six floors of residences. Each
floor has a differently styled unit - whether lofted
sleeping quarters over an open soaking tub; a ladder
of ledges to provide perches for feline residents; or a
spacious penthouse for couples. Key architectural
details are full-width slanted windows with blinds that
rise bottom-up for privacy while providing a slice of
the sky.
The community cannot exist without the
individual, and the individual is anchored by the
community. Residents look upon the garden
twice: upon entry into the ground floor and as
they enter their unit. Community is not forced
but coaxed: each unit is designed for a single
person with private bath and kitchenette, and
residents only share amenities where larger
scale and community make for a better
experience.

solutions student housing. It promises on

more comfortable. Our main focus was to
interpret the user needs and create a
design response which will ensure a
comfortable,energetic and healthy

sustainable and diverse community.

Challenges: The major challenge was
to create a high-end hospitality unit in
building which was not in use for
almost a decade. The reconfiguration
of all the floors to accommodate in-
suit bathrooms, breakout area and all
the facilities for collective living.
Solutions: All the functionalities in
the form of lighting, storage areas,
circulation, ventilation has been
incorporated in the design in such a
way that it is aesthetical and at the
same time meet the comforts, needs
and aspirations of the users. Project
Impact: The design focuses on
sustainability which can be seen in an
adaptive reuse of the existing building
which was not in use for almost a
decade by retaining the character of
buildi with textured concrete, circul
columns, courtyards on front and re
side of the building and the tre planted
in the periphery of building The reuse
of this old structure into youthful and
futuristic hostel building is in itself a
sustainable move.
The basic idea was to create a hierarchy of common spaces in and around the rooms connecting them
horizontally and vertically, reflecting the concept of community living. The focus was to facilitate
students with private and comfortable spaces along interactive comfortable with vibrant interactive
spaces where students can hangout.The sense belongingness to a space would be created through
these spaces.A very contemporary and enthusiastic design with minimal interiors accommodating the
students in a luxurious setting balancing out their private and social life is what we have achieved
through this design
