Multi-tenant IOT Services Platform for Solar
Estate Monitoring

OVERVIEW
The client is a leading manufacturer of switchgear and industrial automation products.
 CHALLENGES

Client was looking for a cloud hosted IOT Platform for Asset monitoring of Solar Estates. A solar estate has
large mounted ground with an array of PV (photo voltaic) panels, inverters and switchgear transporting
power to the Grid. The Customer wanted an IoT platform to monitor the life cycle states of PV panels, Inverters
and switchgear in real time.

SOLUTION

Understanding the requirements and use cases for the proposed IOT Platform and SaaS applications,
with a team of strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, security and Microsoft Azure Cloud (PaaS), ACL
Digital provided the following solutions:

1 Developed detailed technical requirements – functional, performance, security and high availability for
the IOT asset monitoring solution

2 Developed the system architecture and design using Azure PaaS components such as Azure IoT Hub,
Service Bus, etc. for faster product realization

3 Implemented key modules such as Device Provisioning, Certificate mgmt., Telemetry data / event
processing, User Identity management and Device Management services, including Firmware upgrade
for field devices
4 Secure infrastructure design including Key Management infrastructure for field devices, VPN tunnel
establishment from field IoT Gateways to cloud hosted STT, and implementation of Security Groups and
ACLs

5 Designed a SaaS product capable of global deployment with high availability with GeoDNS, mirrored DB
instances with asynchronous replication and network redundancy (Inter-cloud or Inter-region)

6 Developed applications for Tenants (solar estate operators) to receive Alerts, Notifications and Control
field devices

7 Delivered a solution hosted on Azure cloud within a short period of time
