A REPORT ONINDUSTRIAL VISIT TO

IDUKKI, RAMAKKALMEDU &


KODAIKANAL
A complete report on industrial visit organized by IES college of Engineering,
for the students of Mechanical Engineering [4 th SEM] in order to get the
practical knowledge about how process engineering concepts are used in tea
industry for smooth and efficient working of the machinery, carried out by
Jeevan Tea Factory, Idukki.

Locations to be visited: Idukki, Ramakkalmedu, Kodaikanal
Industry to be visited: Idukki Dam, Jeevan Tea Factory, Wind Mill Farm of
Ramakkalmedu.
Duration: May 10th 2023–May 13th2023.

& Mr. Nixon Ponnos, for accompanying with us throughout our entire Industrial Visit, and
also would like to thank Narcoz Chavakkad, for initiating and coordinating the tour of 2 days,
and making sure that the tour package, was worth taking. The mode of transport was bus, and
we would like to thank our HoD ME, Dr. A. Benham, for providing a wonderful opportunity
to travel to places, where practicality and in-hand knowledge is gained by visiting Industries.
Lastly, we would like to thank our Principal, Dr. S. Brilly Sangeetha, and the Management of
IES College of Engineering, for giving us the permission and approving our Industrial Visit.

CHAPTER-2: DETAILS OF INDUSTRIAL VISIT
DAY 1 - 11/05/2023[TRIP TO IDUKKI & RAMAKKALMEDU]
The first place to be visited by the S4 students of Mechanical Engineering Department for
Industrial Visit was at Idukki. We began our journey from 10 pm at Night, from IES College
of Engineering, and reached Idukki at 4 in the morning. The plan was to have breakfast from
Idukki, followed by commencing our trip by visiting the Idukki Dam, which is the most
prominent and the highest arch dams, present currently in Asia. The Bus journey was smooth
and upon our arrival at Idukki, we took a few hours of rest at Goshen Hotels & Resort, which
is a small hotel at Idukki, where the students

SCHEDULE OF THE ENTIRE TRIP
 10:00 PM: COMMENCING THE JOURNEY TO IDUKKI FROM IES COLLEGE OF
ENGINEERING
 5:00 AM: REACHED GOSHEN HOTELS & RESORT, IDUKKI AND DECIDED TO
TAKE REST.
DAY-1:
 9:00 AM: WE HAD OUR BREAKFAST, FOLLOWED BY WHICH WE DECIDED TO
START WITH OUR JOURNEY.
 10:10 AM: WE REACHED IDUKKI DAM AND ENTERED IT’S PREMISES.
 11:30 AM: WE REACHED THE PREMISES OF JEEVAN TEA FACTORY, AND
THE RESOURCE PERSON GUIDED ALL OF US INSIDE AND SHOWED US THE
PROCESSING OF TEA LEAVES TO TEA POWDER IN HIGH DETAIL.
 12:00 PM: WE DEPARTED FROM THE COMPANY, AND HEADED TO
RAMAKKALMEDU
 2:30 PM: WE REACHED RAMAKKALMEDU, HAD LUNCH, AND THEN WENT
FOR JEEP TREKKING, TO SEE TORTOISE ROCK, KURAVAN KURATHI
STATUE, AND WIND MILL FARM.
 7:30 PM: WE CHECKED INSIDE HOTEL AT TRANQUIL GREEN RESORT FOR
THE NIGHT
DAY-2:
 9:30 AM: WE HAD OUR BREAKFAST, FOLLOWED BY WHICH WE DECIDED TO
START WITH OUR JOURNEY TO KODAIKANAL.
 2:00 PM: WE REACHED KODAIKANAL AND HAD LUNCH
 2:45 PM: WE HEADED TO BRYANT’S PARK AND SPENT OUR AFTERNOON
HERE. FOLLOWED BY COAKER’S WALK.
 5:30 PM: OUR LAST DESTINATION BEING KODAIKANAL LAKE, WHERE
STUDENTS SPENT TIME CYCLING NEAR THE LAKE AREA.
 9:30 PM: STUDENTS HAD DINNER AND THEN WE STARTED OUR JOURNEY
BACK TO COLLEGE.
DAY-3:
 6:30 AM: WE HAD OUR BREAKFAST, FOLLOWED BY WHICH WE DECIDED TO
START WITH OUR JOURNEY TO KODAIKANAL.

CHAPTER-4: IMPACT ANALYSIS OF S4 ME STUDENTS

Impact Analysis is conducted basically to analyze how much the Industrial visit, has had an
impact on the students of S4 Mechanical. Upon reaching our homes, we were forwarded a
form which was filled on 14th May, 2023 and then submitted. Here are the results:

CHAPTER-5: CONCLUSION:
The following the conclusion that has been derived from the Impact Analysis feedback form
that was shared with the students of S4 Mechanical on 13 th May, 2023. From the analysis
report, we can say that
Hence, we can conclude that the Industrial Visit was extremely beneficial and worth a time,
and the students of S4 Mechanical had a great time, during the two days. The rating as shown
above, is based on the feedback form, and the team, behind the trip has not only maintained
their time during the trip, but also made sure that we visited the places mentioned in the
package and got the most from the adventure, the highlight being the Jeep trekking at
Ramakkalmedu.
