PECO2
Partnership for Education and Cooperation in
Frameworl
The PECO2 project running from October Cree | mmm | srs *
2020 to end of December 2023 aims to devel- —
‘op a common platform for organization and
implementation of education and training in
support to operational oceanography and
marine services. It will, in particular; focus
on the regional seas listed below and has
clear relevance and complementarity to a
number of international initiatives and
programs such as ETOOFS, the UN

Deliverables:
1-1: White paper for coordination of research cooperation and training in operational
oceanography and marine services between the prolect partners
102-1; Delivery of the summer school on operational oceanography in January 2023
(Advanced Ocean Synergy Training Course on board the Statsraad Lemkhul).
02-2: Summary report on the summer schools and lessons learnt.
2-2: Delivery of the data assimilation crash course in 2020 and 2022.
102-4; Summary report on the data assimilation courses and lessons learnt.
12-5: Annual report on mobility grants (visit length, visiting institutes, study subject).
3-1; Recommendations for adaptation of training material for maritime/public sector.
13.2: Roadmap for the design and implementation of a common course portfolio for train-
ing and education of marine professionals in line with the recent outline document from
European Marine Board.Impact
=> Improved quality of education supporting operational oceanography through cutting-edge expertise.
=> New training materials, comprehensively covering the topic of operational oceanography to be widely available,
leading to a new generation of researchers that are able to take advantage of new jobs in this growing area at the
interface of research, services and industry.
=> Being trained in operational oceanography services will offer a strong professional opportunity for students in
‘geophysics, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology and will contribute to a boost in the Norwegian research
and education in a desirable direction of relevance to sustainable marine management and se
the UN's SDGs,
=> Better cooperation between the partner countries, reinforcing international links through exchange of knowledge,
stimulating new ideas and research collaborations via exchange students.
=>. Scientific breakthroughs and improved regional provision of oceanography services.
