Hardware Requirements
Need a computer and a modem. Modems rae
either external or internal though these days
almost all computers come equipped with an
internal modem.
Software Requirements
To acess World Wide Web, you will need two types of software.
i) Communication Program
ii) Internet browser
• A communication program allows you to make the
connections between your computer, your modem, and your
internet service provider’s computer.
• An internet browser is the software that allows you to read
and manipulate the information available on the world wide
web.
Internet Service Provider(ISP) Account

• Once you have got the hardware you will need

an account with an internet service provider.
• These accounts allow you to use your computer
to connect to their computer,allowing you to
easily browse millions of different sites.
Email
• E-mail is one of the most important services
of internet to exchange the information across
the world within short interval of time.
• Through E-mail text files, attached files,
pictures, graphics, video clipping etc can be
sent.
USE OF INTERNET IN NURSING
EDUCATION AND PRACTICE
• Nurses use computer programs and Internet for many purposes, for instance
writing assignments, preparing seminar presentations, watching videos,
communicating with their peers and instructors, finding evidence based
nursing (EBN) resources and web sites, keeping themselves up to date of the
latest developments.
• Patients and their families can get information from the Internet about a
hospital's policies and procedures, and about illnesses and treatments.
• They can send email to an ask-an-expert service, to healthcare
professionals, and even to other people with similar health problems.
