Diligentia in Rebus Honorem Principal: Mr. M. A. Floris

[Success Through Honour and Diligence]

2 April 2024

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I trust this communication finds you well.

Term 2 has dawned upon us so quickly. I trust our learners are well rested and ready to tackle the new term
head-on. I pray that our Christian families has enjoyed a blessed Easter and that they have emerged with
renewed spirits.

Circular 34

The WCED has issued Circular 34 which aims to reduce government expenditure. These measures have
impacted schools across the province with devastating effects to staffing numbers. Its implementation has
affected our school so much so that we have lost 7 of our educators. This will most certainly affect all aspects
of our school including the teaching load, quality of teaching and learning, administrative loads, the
extension and range of extra-curricular activities, teacher morale, discipline as well as educator wellness, to
mention but a few. The teacher unions are currently engaging with the WCED to retract the circular and
establish ‘normality’ at schools and get our educators back. I will be sure to keep you updated about
developments.

Timetable

The loss of 7 educators has necessitated the drafting of a new timetable and internal arrangements. There
was also a need to reshuffle educator homeroom classes and venues in some cases subject teacher changes.
This will be shared on the parent chats. Please ensure that your child/ward open their school bags which I
am almost sure in most cases remained closed for the duration of the holidays. They must ensure that all
books and stationery for the day is packed. As per my last communication we shall observe DAY 3 tomorrow,
3 April 2024

Printing

We are all aware that MPHS is a non-school fee-paying school. We do massive amounts of copies each term
and this comes at a huge cost. We have asked that parents donate 1 ream of paper per term to cover the
printing. Those who have not yet provided the T1 ream of paper please do so as soon as possible. Kindly
note that T2 reams are due on the first day of the new term.

Uniform Reminder and update
We have noted many learners who have been at the school since the beginning of the year and are still not
properly attired in school uniform. The colder winter months are approaching fast.

Herewith a reminder of the proper school uniform. The uniform will consist of a compulsory navy-blue blazer
and navy-blue V-neck jersey for both boys and girls. A grey pants [no skinny or slim fit pants], white shirt and
grey socks and black school shoes for boys. Girls should be attired in a compulsory grey skirt [Please do not
tailor the skirt to make it ‘body fit’], white shirt, white ankle socks and black school shoes. Girls may wear a
navy-blue Alice band to keep their hair back [no cloth bands allowed] and navy-blue stockings [not black] is
allowed.

We now have enough uniform in stock. Please see table below. We are promoting that parents purchase
