Stripping of Sub-Assembly of brake head, lever and articulation

 After washing with high pressure water jet the sub-assemblies of lever (inner and outer), brake
head, articulation etc. are loaded in pallet and sent to subassembly open area in brake rigging
shop.
 The pallet is kept in front of assembly open work bench, where it is unloaded and inner and
outer sub-assemblies are kept separately.

Stripping of subassembly:

1. The revolute joints and bolted joints of sub-assembly are cleaned thoroughly with wire brush.

2. All the split pins and bulb cotter are closed and removed by using the punch and hammer. The
removed split pins and bulb cotter are sent to scrap bins

3. The nuts of bolt for brake block adjuster and lever studs are opened by using the spanners
in this step the lever, brake head and brake block adjuster strip is get loosened

4. The brake head, lever are then sent to brake head repair and bushing de bushing area and
lever repair and bushing de bushing area respectively. And brake block adjuster strips and bolt
for brake block adjusters are collected in the tray after checking their quality.

5. The bolts which are with damaged threads, bend and pitted are sent to scrap bins. The brake
block adjuster strips which are with narrow edge, heavy bend and cracked are sent to scrap
bins. The repairable bend of brake block adjuster strips is eliminated.

6. The revolute joint of fork end of articulation piece and lever outer is dis-assembled by
removing the bulb cotter and the removal of the pin for brake rigging short by using the suitable
punch and hammer.

7. The dis-assembled articulation pieces are collected in green colored bin. These bins
containing articulation pieces are sent to articulation repair and bushing de bushing area and
levers outer are sent to lever repair and bushing de bushing area.

8. The short pins for brake rigging are checked for bend, damaged, pitted and scored heavily are
rejected and sent to scrap bins. The acceptable short pins for brake rigging are collected in the
tray.
