I. Reflection Checkpoint (CARING)

1. Can you relate to Gwen’s situation?

- Actually, I don’t because I am a man with full determination and willingly to study and
pass all the performance tasks in this course. Because the strength that I have in me, is
needed to be boosted and have a great self-esteem and confidence that I will get
through any hurdles.

2. The idea of taking care and having a great interaction between me and the patient. So,
that someday my patients won’t get shy to approach or talk to me about their
conditions or what they feel. Having a great impression with your patients makes the
gullible and easy to talk when you need to ask them something about their conditions.

PERSONAL KNOWING

Personal knowing refers to the knowledge we have of ourselves and what we have seen and
experienced. This type of knowledge comes to us through the process of observation,
reflection, and self-actualization.

EMPIRICAL KNOWING

We gain EMPIRICAL knowledge from research and objective facts. This knowledge is
systematically organized into general laws and theories. One of the ways we employ this
knowledge is through the use of evidenced-based practice.

ETHICAL KNOWING

Ethical knowing helps one develop our own moral code; our sense of knowing what is right and
wrong. For nurses, our personal ethics is based on our obligation to protect and respect human
life. Our deliberate personal actions are guided by ethical knowing.

AESTHETIC KNOWING

Aesthetic knowing is that “aha” moment that we have when we uncovered something new; and
just as an artist creates a painting, you are afforded the opportunity of new perspective.
4. It eventually helps us to understand the situations and cites us that we need to ask and
gather information’s in order to know or to feed our curiosities and not to be baffled by
many questions anymore. It also enhances our mind to be always be ready incase of any
emergencies.

5. Honestly, I had been more efficient on doing all of my tasks more often right now rather
than before. Because our tasks right now were being harder and harder. That’s why I
need to be more efficient and careful on doing all of my tasks and makes sure that I am
going to finish it on time. Also, I really need to have a daily basis on doing all my stuffs
and self-care routines to be able to stay safe.

6. Frankly, I haven’t started it yet.

7. No.

I. CRITICAL THINKING (COMMUNICATION)

1. She had a breakdown that she cannot handle the pain and the agony what her husband
has gone through after the surgery and the result of the surgery. From what she had
reacted from the news from the doctors, she really needed some help a comfort from
someone. Even the result that the operation was isn’t that very successful that her
husband will still undergo to medication had stricken her and hurt her feelings inside
because, although her husband had gone through a surgery her husband will still suffer
into a chemotherapy to be able to remove all the tumors in his husband’s body.

2. The nurse’s done to Mrs. Manansala was the best way to calm her and comfort her into
a soothing way just to ease all that pain that hurt her. The nurse was very devoted to do
her work as a nurse. Comforting a patient after hearing or getting a tragic or very sad
news, was a great pleasure and way of approaching a patient. Hushing and soothing
them down till they calm down was also a very polite way on handling some situations
like what Mrs. Manansala had felt.

3. To be able to sooth and calm the nerves and feelings of Mrs. Manansala the down. The
nurse really needed to imply and do the comforting and hushing for Mrs. Manansala to
stop and hush from the verge of her break down due to the result.

4. Listening is the best way to do the task of a nurse.
