Agnihotra fires are burned in a copper vessel in the shape of an inverted pyramid.

Agnihotra is an Ayurvedic healing-fire-ritual performed twice a day at the precise moments of sunrise and sunset. The
Sanskrit word “agni” means fire and has many meanings. “Hotra” means invocation and also has many different
meanings and associated stories.
A copper pyramid of specific size and shape is used to burn dried cow dung with brown rice and ghee (clarified unsalted
butter). Other balamcing and calming herbs like brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) and jatamamsi (Nardostachys jatamamsi) are
sometimes added to the pulverized brown rice. At the exact moment of sunrise and sunset, the fire is lit, special mantras
are spoken and the rice mixture and ghee are offered to the fire.

The mantra for sunrise is: HOME ABOUT SERVICES WORKSHOPS CONTACT BLOG CART (0)
OM SURYAYA SVAHA, SURYAYĀ IDAM NA MAMA
PRAJA-PATAYE SVAHA, PRAJA-PATAYE IDAM NA MAMA
My translation goes like this: Hail Lord of Creation, this offering is not mine but thine.

Tremendous amounts of energy are attracted to the copper vessel, a magnetic field is created neutralizing negative energies and reinforcing
positive ones. Changes in the atmosphere can come about with this practice timed to biorhythms. Agnihotra purifies the atmosphere and
neutralizes harmful radiation.

Nourishes all Life

Agnihotra renews brain cells, revitalizes the skin and purifies the blood.
Agnihotra removes stress and tension , clears negative thought patterns,
reduces anger and self-destructive habit patterns, can strengthen the subtle
energy structure of plants, purifies contaminated water, seeds clouds to bring
rain, and the ash can be used in medicines to heal disease.
The mantra for sunset is:
OM AGNAYE SVAHA, AGNAYE IDAM NA MAMA
PRAJA-PATAYE SVAHA, PRAJA-PATAYE IDAM NA MAMA
The translation: Unto the fire I am offering all. This is not mine, it is
thine.

Agnihotra is universal
Thousands of people all over the world from all walks of life practice Agnihotra, in Europe, Australia, North and South America, India and Asia,
healing the atmosphere in their homes, healing the planet. At nearly every moment as the earth turns someone somewhere in the world is
practicing Agnihotra. I like to gaze into the fire and imagine difficulties being burned and transformed by the fire; I am reminded of the unity of
all creation and pray for healing of all beings.
