● You must be a South African native and permanent resident.

Apply process
Vist to near office of sassa. And fill out the application form in the presence of the
Sassa officer. If you are too old and can’t visit to Sassa office then your trusted friend
or family can also fill out your form. But the trusted person or family member must
carry your medical report explaining why you can’t visit to Sassa office.
When the whole process is completed you will take a receipt from the Sassa office
even if you do not qualify keep the receipt as proof of application.

1. Visit the Sassa nearest office to where you live and carry the following:
● Your 13-digit bar-coded ID. if you don’t have an ID:
● To register with the Sassa, you must complete the affidavit in the form of a
standard Sassa with the help of a non-Sassa commissioner of oaths.
● An official who can verify your name and age must sign a sworn statement
that you bring (such as a counselor, traditional leader, social worker, or school
principal).
● The sassa official will take your fingerprints. In addition to your application,
you must apply for an ID at the Department of Home Affairs. When you don’t
take an ID, your grant will be suspended.
● Show proof of your marital status (married or unmarried).
● Proof of address.
● Evidence of income, dividends, and/or capital gains (if any).
 ● Evidence of your assets, containing the price of the property you have.
● If you have any private pension then you need to show the evidence of that
private pension.
● Evidence of previous three months' bank statements.
● If you were employed, give the evidence of your unemployment insurance
fund (UIF) membership(blue book) or previous employer discharge certificate.
● Please provide a copy of your spouse's will and any liquidation and
distribution accounts opened since their death within the last five years.
2. You need to fill out the form in the presence of the sassa officer. The officer
will take an interview from you and ask you if you qualify for the grant.
3. The sassa officer will give you a receipt. You need to keep the receipt as
proof that you applied.
How long does it take
Normally it takes three months to process your application. When your grant is
approved, on which day you applied you will be paid from that day.
