Subject: - Direction regarding language(s) in which Form 7A is to be prepared _ regarding.


Sir,

Rule 10 of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961 provides that the language( s) in which
list of contesting candidates is to be prepared in the language or languages as directed by the
Commission. The Commission, vide its Directions No. 3/4/2008/J.S.II dated 16-09-2008 and
No. 3/4/2008/J.S.II1SDR, dated 06-02-2009, has specified the language(s) for this purpose for
various States, including for undivided Andhra Pradesh, for all Assembly and Parliamentary
Constituencies. As Andhra Pradesh has since been bifurcated, two separate Directions for the

constituencies now falling in the two States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are enclosed, one
for the Assembly constituencies and the other for the Lok Sabha Constituencies.

Copy of the Directions should be communicated to all the District Election Officers,
Returning Officers and other authorities in the State of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.

The Directions may also be published in the State Govt. gazette and two copies thereof
sent to the Commission for its record.

DIRECTION

No. 3/4/2018/SDR: In pursuance of sub-rules (I) and (3) of Rule 10 of the Conduct of
Elections Rules, 1961, and in partial modification of the direction No. 3/4/2008/JS.II, dated
16.09.2008, the Election Commission of India hereby directs that the list of contesting
candidates in Form 7A at an election to the Legislative Assembly in the States of Andhra
Pradesh and Telangana shall be prepared in the language or languages specified in the Table
Below.

Where the list is prepared in more than one language, the name of candidates shall be
arranged alphabetically according to the script of the language first specified in column (3)

Elections Rules, 1961, and in partial modification -of the direction No. 3/4/2008/JS.II, dated
06.02.2009, the Election Commission of India hereby directs that the list of contesting
