Why are we presenting on
animal testing?
It is a serious topic, that should be discussed
amongst people, which is still existing.
Experimenting on animals is also unacceptable
because it causes suffering to animals.
Reliance on animal experimentation can impede and
delay discovery, so the benefits to human beings are
also not proven.
What is Animal Testing?
The term “animal testing” refers to procedures performed on living
animals for research into diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new
medicinal products, and testing the human health and environmental safety
of the consumer and industry products (cosmetics, household cleaners etc.)
All procedures, even those classified as “mild,” have the potential to cause
a great deal of suffering. Most animals are killed at the end of an
experiment, but some may be re-used in other experiments.
What types of animals are used?
The most common animal species include mice, fish, rats, rabbits,
guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs, mini-pigs, and
non-human primates e.g. monkeys and chimpanzees.
