A Detailed Lesson Plan in Technology in Technical Vocational and livelihood


(Based on Dep Ed Order #42 S. 2016)

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding in reading and
interpreting product designs and specifications in dressmaking/tailoring.
B. Performance Standards: The learner independently reads and interprets
product designs in dressmaking/tailoring.
C. Learning Competencies: Read and interpret specifications of product design.
D. Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the lesson, the learners must be able to:
1. Identify the basics of color theory,
2. Apply the concept of color wheel in dressmaking,
3. Explain the significance of color theory.

II. CONTENT
A. Topic: Color Theory
B. Value infused: Creativity- Color theory encourages being imaginative with
colors to create unique and captivating visuals.

A. References: Curriculum Guide 2013- Home Economics- Dressmaking
Grade 7/8
B. Teaching Materials: Laptop, power point presentaion, projector, color
wheel, bond papers

4. Motivation
Before we start the lesson, let’s have first a quick
game called “Guess the color by emoji.”

For those who are not familiar with the game, I


will present an emoji and you will try to guess
what color it is.

For example (the teacher will present an emoji)

So that, you know already the game. Let’s begin.

should be able identify what’s the result of the
color if you combine it.

3. Abstraction
Color Theory
• Color theory is a practical combination of
art and science that's used to determine
what colors look good together. The color
wheel was invented in 1666 by Isaac
Newton, who mapped the color spectrum
onto a circle. The color wheel is the basis
of color theory, because it shows the
relationship between colors.

Okay class, what is color wheel is? Color wheel is a circular


arrangement of colors ma’am.

Color Wheel
• an abstract illustrative organization of
color hues around a circle, which shows
the relationships between primary colors,
secondary colors, tertiary colors and etc.

There are 3 types of colors. These are the primary,


secondary, and teriary color

• are sets of colors that can be mixed to
make a useful range of colors. The primary
colors are those which cannot be made by
mixing other colors in a given color space.

• are the primary, secondary and

white, black and gray in them.

• are white, black and gray. They look well
with another and with all other colors. The
more grayed colors become, the more
different colors it will harmonize with.

Warm Colors

Qualities of Colors

What is hue? one of the main properties of a color

Hue
• is the family group name of a color. It is
the name of a color. Ones they are
combined differently and given new
names.
Value
• refers to the lightness or the tint or the
darkness of the shade.

Intensity
• means the brightness or dullness of a color.

What is color schemes? combination of 2 or more colors used in


aesthetic or practical design.

Color Schemes is
• The beauty of any color scheme depends
upon how well the colors harmonize. To
harmonize, colors must appear to belong
together.

What is one color harmony? the uses of only one hue or color and its
lighter or darker variations.

One color harmony (monochromatic color)

that uses the same color in different values
and intensity.
