Classification of Triangles
According to the number According to the types of
of equal sides angle they have
Equilateral Acute-angled triangle
3 equal sides 3 acute angles
All angles are equal

Isosceles
Right-angled triangle
2 equal sides
A right angle
Base angles are
equal

Scalene Obtuse-angled triangle

No equal sides An obtuse angle
All angles are
different
Angle Sum of Triangle
The sum of angles of a triangle is 180°.

Example:
1) Find the value of α. 2) Calculate ∠ABC.
Exterior Angles of Triangle
∠a, ∠b, ∠c are interior angles
∠p, ∠q, ∠r are exterior angles
A triangles has exactly 3 exterior angles.

Exterior angles are go in an anticlockwise

direction from ∠p to ∠q to ∠r.
∠a and ∠b are interior opposite angles
with reference to the exterior ∠r

∠a and ∠c are interior opposite angles

with reference to the exterior ∠q

∠b and ∠c are interior opposite angles

with reference to the exterior ∠p

Exterior angle = sum of its interior opposite angles

∠p = ∠b + ∠c
∠q = ∠a + ∠c
∠r = ∠a + ∠b
