1. What were your strengths in the fitness tests? My strengths were Cardiovascular Endurance, Flexibility and Power. 2. What were the reasons for this? Do you play a second sport that might aid this? The reasons for the order of my strengths are rather simple; my main sport, and the one I am using in this course, is middle distance running – this would explain my result in my cardiovascular endurance. My result in flexibility will be due to the stretching and yoga I do to assist my recovery after running. Finally, my result in power will be due to my history of playing volleyball, a sport that relies on explosive power in the legs. 3. What are the impacts, in your sport, of being strong in these components of fitness? Being cardio vascularly fit is the single most important part of most running events, being flexible is helpful when diving in swimming and power is incredibly useful for volleyball when trying to standing jump.
Overview of my Bottom Three Results:
1. What were your weaknesses in the fitness test? My weaknesses were agility, balance and muscular strength. 2. What were the reasons for this? My weaknesses are straightforward to explain. This is simply due to the fact that none of them are relevant to the sports I take part in. I do not need agility when I am running round a track, I do not muscular strength when swimming, however I may need to improve balance as it may be useful when competing in volleyball. 3. What are the impacts, in your sport, of being weak in these components of fitness? As I have said previously, these components of fitness are not particularly relevant to the sports I take part in therefore I do not see any negative impacts of being weak in them.
