PLAN IN MAPEH 8 (HEALTH)

I- OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Discuss cigarettes as gateway drugs;
b. Present the impact of cigarette smoking on the family,
environment, and community and;
c. Appreciate the value of knowing the effect of cigarette smoking.

II- SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Prevention of Substance Use And Abuse Subtopic:
Getaway Drugs
1. Cigarettes

References: Health Grade 8 Learner’s Materials page 6-10

Materials: Laptop, projector, PowerPoint Presentation and
Video clip,
Values Integration: Realization, Appreciation.
III- PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activities

 Greetings
The teacher will greet the learners.

 Prayer
The teacher will call one of his students to lead the prayer.

 Attendance
The teacher will remind the monitor to check the attendance and also for the
documentation.

 Review
The teacher will ask the students about their previous lesson.

 Motivation

The teacher will present two jumbled letters with pictures where the students
need to arrange the letters into the correct word.

The teacher will ask the students about how they felt when they saw the
pictures that were shown.

The teacher will provide some questions to give the students’ ideas about what
lesson they will be having.
 B. Lesson Proper

The Teacher will show a short video clip about cigarettes

The Teacher will asks questions about the short clip

The teacher will introduce the Getaway Drugs: Cigarettes

The teacher will discuss and gives examples about cigarettes

The teacher will discuss and explain the risks and effects of cigarettes

C. Application

The teacher will group his students into 3 namely “Nagmahal, Nasaktan and Nagmove-
on to simulate impact of cigarette smoking on the family, environment, and community
by a role playing, talk show or news casting. They have 3 minutes present the skit.

The teacher will ask the students about what they have observed in the simulation

D. Generalization
The teacher will ask the students to sum up their lesson

IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will give the 10 items of the quiz through Google form

V. ASSIGNMENT

Write a journal explaining how you manage to be smoke free. You can
use pictures, drawings and other creative ideas to make your journal
beautiful.

Design 1 pack of cigarette that would serves as an

eye opener to all users to stop taking cigarettes.
